Let's see what we can learn from our mistakes

After 48 hours, 2 of the 3 seeds I am germing cracked, 24 hours later they had a long root forming already!

I'm hoping to get some exciting phenomes to choose from! Anyone ever grown any purple strains? What traits should I look for in selecting a mother plant? Anyone still following this thread, LOL?

I'm here.
Those are some nice long taproots.
I've read something like this.
I would think fast growing and really bushy.
From your seeds take the best growing bushiest strongest looking females.
Then take several clones from each and again choose the fastest growing bushiest best looking
of all the clones and choose from them which will be the mothers.
The whole time you are also creating plenty of plants to flower.
I've also seen people reveg the plants that they really liked and take clones
then choose the mother from those.

Cool, thanks for the advice chain. I have limited space, but I'll try to keep them as long as I can to find the traits I want

They kinda look funny because the taproot was so long when they went in the cube but they are both doing well!

One of the seedlings has purple on it's underside. It is still in the husk. This color may mean nothing, but it could be the purple coloration I am looking for :D

Cameo is looking great. She has 4 tops on the front left and back right plant and some of those tops even have shoots that are close to the same height as the rest of the canopy. The othe Cameo plant in the front right was a slow grower and didn't get much light in veg, so it is a single shoot with one main cola. Peachez is looking very full as well. I continue to use bamboo stakes to both help prop the limbs up as well as keep them where I want them to be incase they start hogging light away from other plants. This might be a make or break grow for Peachez. I need to see some real weight come off of her or I will be letting her strain die off. Cameo is that much better at this point and has a better, more prefferable, high. With the new seeds on the horizon, she has to give me good cause to keep her around. She is the last of the first strains that I planted, but sentiment only goes so far. This way I can make more room in the veg by not having as many mothers.

I am almost out of the FloraNectar so I went to my local grow store and bought Bionicare Sweet Original Berry. Gonna give this stuff a try to get a little sweeter taste to the smoke..... Anyone used either of these? Which do you prefer or does the sweetner even make a difference?

:peace:

Just had a happy discovery! My gf got some weed in trade (someone liked ours and wanted to swap for some of theirs)
After looking closely at it, I found nearly a dozen seeds! The cool part about it is that I made the comment prior to looking through it that I hoped there were going to be seeds in it. Why, you might ask? The reason is because this stuff had purple leaves! I have been wanting to order some purple strain seeds to grow. Now I got them for free! :)

I realize there is the chance that they are crap seeds, but all of the plants I have in my cab are from bagseed. I just thought it was cool. Oh, and my gf says this shit is super potent too!

It's hard to see the color because of the flash, but you can at least see it somewhat:

I will be planting a couple of these and adding them to my threads as progress is made. If they germinate, I should have them ready for my grow after Christmas! I know that seems way off, but I just wanted to share my excitement with the rest of you :)
tis a sweet find indeed. i sub.

I'd like to hear from people viewing, anyone have input? Used any of the nutes I have listed? Ever grow any purple strains? Any ideas to improve my design? Let's hear 'em guys :)

Well all I use is Jack's classics and cal-mag but I also throw molasses in the mix to sweeten up the taste.
I think I can tell a difference. I'm going to go a bit heavier with the SLH and see.
So I'd say the sweetener is worth a shot.
I'm going to switch to aero one day.

You are using soil right?

The FloraNectar has molasses and cane sugar in it, the Bionicare Sweet doesn't list much. Not sure if they use cane sugar or what to sweeten. I can tell that the smell of the plants has been sweeter with the FloraNectar, but I am after a sweeter taste for my gf. She is really looking forward to seeing what the berry formula will hold in store :P

Anyone know when the purple color is likely to show? My guess is that it isn't gonna truly come out until flowering. For the seeds I am just looking for a full looking female to start. I would like a shorter strain that is more of a heady high to replace Peachez. That would be enough as long as it is good bud as well. Purple at this point is a bonus. Any thoughts?

Fimming is the way to go! I did this to 3/4 of the plants in my cab during veg. I have one plant that didn't get enough light during veg to get tall enough to have to fim it. The plant that isn't fimmed looks so pathetic, lol!

Here is one of the tops of a Cameo plant:

Can you see all the tops?

I have about 10 more days on the liquid Kool then I switch to the bulkening powder Kool. This is about the time I screwed up the watering in my previous grow that stressed my plants and dried them out. Must pay extra attention for the next 4 weeks. That being said I am liking the way these girls are looking!

I moved the clones over from the prop dome into vegging area a couple days ago and they are doing well. This will be the shortest time I have vegged plants prior to flowering, but I am hoping to get shorter plants into the flowering cab so I can get more light to the bottom of the plants. Right now there isn't much growth if any on the bottom half of the plant. I would like to see if that will change with starting with shorter plants. 12-15" is what I am shooting for.

Anyone have any input on that?

I still am planning on fimming all the plants this time. The 2 larger clones have already been fimmed, I am just waiting on the smaller ones to start showing good growth before I snip them.

Feedback an comments are appreciated! If I continue feeling that people aren't really getting anything out of this thread I will cease to post since I already keep a personal journal. Let me know if any of this is helping :)

thats an awsome grow you have there. one thing i think i would do is i would get rid of the clear tub. even though you might not see it the light is building up some algea in there and using up some of you nutes. just my opion. and maybe try using a little lst on them and you can get more horizonal growth instead of vetical and they will basically cover the entire cabinet. pull and tie to open places. i have found to get a much higher yield doing this

I have been trying to think of how to use either LST or Scrog in my setup. The main problems with that is I have to move them from veg to flower, so Scrog is pretty much out. LST is hard because I would have to tie it to itself since I am using 3" rockwool cubes.

That is the main reason I am gonna try to keep them short coming from veg. Also why I started using fimming, though this is the first grow I have used that so the yield will help tell me how much that has helped. I will be weighing each plant totals individually to see which has the best yield and compare them to how well they grew and whatnot.

Thanks for the tip. As for algae, I use H2O2 and have never seen much in the way of algae when changing nutes or when I wash the hydroton in between grows.

I decided to put some pics up that included a quarter since that is what I used in my old thread for scale most of the time. I am at 5 1/2 weeks of flower now so you know which week to compare it to.

Cameo is so frosty, it's beautiful! That shot of Peachez is really the only one I can reach. That is of her lowest bud, it is about the size of a golf ball right now.

Saturday is 6 weeks of flowering. I will start using the powder Kool then. (Make sure the water is plugged in.......)
