I have several large silica packs in there. I learned that you don't want to use metal tins and accidentally leave the door cracked as well.... Tins had sealed packs in them but could have been bad.

I love this take!!

hmmm so maybe I just need to spend some cash and get something nice...maybe a wine fridge that can control the humidity as well as temp.
Some beans are very expensive ; The cost and also the opportunity of it. You won't realize it until you go to get them 2 sprout. At the time u didn't care - 10 years later u want to cry perhaps u are the only one that had them.

If u plan on keeping them for a long time it's best to spend a bit for peace of mind as well as viability... Just my .02 I'm sure there are cheaper ways to keep seed

@ilovereggae do u check the RH in jar before sealing or are u just going for it?

May try this but looking long term seal and forget.
just what I've been doing for last few years. never checked rh, not a bad idea tho. I havent put a ton of thought into it. I go in every couple months to grab something to pop and/or add new stuff to my collection.

vacuum sealing the individual packs should do the trick tho i would think? then just cut them open when ready to use.

I vac sealed all my beans. Saves on space when.you have alot of em. Couldnt care less if the packs are alittle bent..aslong as the beans are safe and in a container who cares. Then off to the fridge.
Do you use smaller vac bags or just put a bunch of packs in a larger vacuum bag? Would there be any benefit of putting a desiccant packet sealed in with them? Would vacuum sealed bags be ok in a mini fridge as far as the higher humidity then a normal fridge? Thanks in advance!

I vac seal each breeder specifically..and then put all those vac sealed bunches together and then vac seal em all together. I leave em in a fridge so i wouldnt be sure on the mini fridge part.
