We will see, Ill do by weight after cure as its meant to be done.... Now Idk whos using wet weight or if people dont believe them...The last grow I saw was 1.6G/W from @PerroVerde

Pretty sure this guys yield had a lot to do with how good of a gardener he is. I know you really want to think its just the lights, but lets be real. This guy can garden like no ones business. The quality of his nugs are upper tier stuff, the yield was great. All these things have to do with the gardener not the light source. Search his other grow journals, we've seen him mount 2 christmas angles to a chevy bumper in a grow tent and throw out some killer. You saw that.

Around 95+% of the light also turns into heat as well. Some is carried away as humidity from transperation. Almost all energy in ends up as heat in the end.

That being said if you can reach your desired light level with lower energy in then you have improved system efficiency.
Hmm, Well maybe its just me then, On my next 2 lights ill see if it holds the room at the same temperature. It just doesnt seem accurate that the Heat Watts generated are not the total amount of heat. Because if thats accurate then it doesnt matter if you run your LEDs at 100% or at 35% you will generate the same proportion of heat based on watts. If you go by heat watts generated and calculate that to BTU thats how I can to the conclusion that 3000W is the same BTU output as a 1000W DE Gavita

Light is equally important is all Im saying, its better quality and there are 97CRI lights as well which are comparable to plasma. Of course it takes not messing up and growing right thats a given IMO.

Still waiting to see the 1.6G/W HPS grow if anyone has a link to it.

this may be true but much of that "heat energy" is stored in the plant. just look at what happens when you put a match to a dry plant

Both of those problems- too hot in summer and too cold in winter- are really caused by the same shortcoming; inadequate insulation. Once you've solved that problem, you won't be fooled into thinking HID is doing you any favors.
Not true. I use my HID lighting exhaust to heat my house supplementally at night in winter. It saves up to $500 of propane per season.

If I switched to LED I would never get enough return to even pay for the 1st light.

and what about the money you would save on air conditioning?
Fair question.

I air condition the living areas in my old house with window units. I have an oversized one in the bedroom that serves as the veg tent room and there are intakes to the flower room to share the a/c. So the veg room functions as a lung room.

Also the 2 600's are sealed air cooled units and the other flower room exhaust goes out the chimney with their exhaust.

In winter the exhausts are released under my living room. I run lights 8pm to 8am year round for energy savings.

It only raised my electric bill about $25 per month in summer. It's mostly cooled by ventilation. We run air conditioning regardless.

The new added 315 may increase my needs a bit. But not much as I added a second carbon filtered exhaust when I installed it.

Please see explanation in response to Thai Baby 1's comment above.
Fair enough. Being in Michigan I can sure see how you could more easy absorb the extra energy in the winter, it is a special situation beings that your energy bills are so lopsided. You have very little air conditioning to do in the first place and your electricity is cheap and propane comparatively expensive.

I live in a colder climate than you and only spend $800 a year in heat, my natural gas is really cheap. I don't think my 1000 watts of cobs (which I've set up to be more efficient than the best de hps) are going to do much for my bill.

Exactly. I harvest wall to wall crops in a 4x4(led tent) and my best is like 22 ounces, and my plants are from floor to ceiling. I think you guys are a little in a fantasy.
this # is not wall to wall crops, its just 1 plant for me on the daily lol.really yoda, why do you even hang around in this section.you name drop jungleboys alot but you have a tiny hobby tent? i average 2 pounds a week on a bad week,do you see me shit talkin all these 2 x 2 tent growers because they grow smaller scale? no you dont, but you constantly talk shit about led and all you pull is 22oz from a 4x4.your boyz jungleboyz will pull 2# from that tent with 1 lamp lol.i seen your instagram, and i totally get why you wont post here, people would have more reason not to believe a word you type.you never answered my question about your de lmap crops, how many brah ? jungleboyz is the best in the game, why would you keep comparing him to any of these hobby/micro led grows ? i dont think jack would appreciate you name droppin him all the time with the type of attitude you bring to this community.we all know your weed must suck because you are always in a pissy mood smokin that chuff haha.would you like to play with my cola lmao ,ill put my 525w cob plants up against your hid chuff any time yo....

HID grown.

Looks like you growing some low quality hardly any thc weed, that shit gonna be harsh.

Honestly your plant is pretty shitty for any type of hash extraction too, you need better genetics that shit barely has any frost.
