Light strip/timer combo

Picked this up for 20 bucks at Lowe's. It's grounded, has a breaker, 4 always on 4 timed. Can even do 7 programs, grouped by week, weekend, etc. Really handy.. not that I need anything more than 1 setting of 12/12 lol.

Anyway, opinions? I needed a better strip for my closet anyway and this seemed too good to be true.

No thoughts before I rig it up? Not sure about Utilitech as a brand, but I tested it on a lamp and the programs all work like they should. Guess I'll just use it until it stops working and report back!

whats the rated amps on it? what size light you using if its hps theres a good chance it will blow the timer.

yea, i can only imagine 2-3 600/1000 watt H.I.D lamps, a fan, and other devices pulling too many amps and constantly blowing the timer breaker

I'll have one 400W digital ballast (MH veg, HPS flower) on it. I have a little 6" clip on fan and I may add one or two more. That's it. I have a 20watt air pump I'll use when I go DWC in the fall as well. So less than 500W total no matter what I put on it.

It's rated at 15 amps.

Oh, I should add it has a little CFL bulb symbol and a check mark. I can only imagine they knew people would use these for growing lol.

I guess the old forumla would be correct? 120V x 15 = 1750ish? So as long as I keep it under 1500 I see no problems.

So far no issues with it firing up my digital 400w ballast and 6" fans. Not much use on it yet but at least I know the load isn't throwing the breaker or anything. For 20 bucks it's perfect for a 400-600W grow with accessories.
