Lucas formula

Is the Lucas formula a good growing method and who on here has had great success with it.

I had great success with it, but it's been years since my last grow.

As I'm preparing to get back into it, my only thought is to use the Lucas method. I wonder why it doesn't seem very popular on the forums. What's not to love? It's hippie proof and works perfectly well.

I added stuff for finishing, and I always needed Cal-Mag, and my water quality sucked, but it gave me such an ideal reference point I was able to dial everything in consistently and I could kinda tell what my plants were taking up and what they were leaving behind.

I used it in bubble buckets and an ebb-n-flow botanicaire tray (something else that worked perfectly for me, and doesn't seem to be very popular for some reason.)

One of the basics of Lucas is the elimination of the Grow component based on the assumption you're going to use cal mag and the plant would get some of it's nitrogen there. Further the 3-part nutrient systems usually have calcium and magnesium in the Micros.

I've run Lucas a lot with Jungle Juice. I use CaliMagic because it's 1-0-0. My only suggestion might be using a brand with a bit more nitrogen. Otherwise it's pretty foolproof. 8 & 16. Or if using measuring spoons 1/2 tablespoon and a full tablespoon.

I generally found the need for cal mag in the first month of flower. More experienced growers might CONSIDER adding a P/K boost if the plant can take it. Otherwise don't add anything.

Hell yea I use their gear oil in my differentials

So could you get away with just using the bloom and cal mag and not the micro for flowering since cal mag has some nitrogen in it?

No, micro has micro nutrients that are needed

Man I would think that cutting the strength in half would not cause nitrogen toxicity but then again my plants are small when I flower them. Maybe I need to start out with 1/4 strength

4ml of micro and 8 ml of bloom general hydroponics and a little bit of cal mag

I use Lucas
Haven't we gone through this like 3 times before?

i started tiny seedlings at 1/2 M/B. then work up from there. the highest i could get w/o burn was 5/10

I’m running 6/9 ml with Epsom.

i was just in the middle of asking if you've ever run H3AD's for coco? and there you go reading my mind. lmao!!!

i might pick up some micro (got some bloom leftover) and try it after the stretch is over. i'm not sure the NPK i'm running now is gonna work after the stretch is over and i don't want to f this coco grow up

I’m not sure where I read that at. I came across it the other day. I don’t even use the grow except at the very beginning. I will start 1-1-1 then go to 2/3 (this is my first grow with 2/3)

i read about it on another forum. the dude that came up with it for coco had a user name of grateful h3ad. it's supposed to be a reliable formula

i might switch over after spring break too.

I bought a gallon of micro and bloom so I’m stuck with this. It’s just a matter of finding the right ratio.
