Magnum Plus2 LED 4x4 THCsnow Closet Grow

Hey everyone!
So here's the skinny. I've been growing under 1000 waters for the past 15 years or so and my bro that owns a hydro store here on the west coast has convinced me to run a test for him using some new led light technology he is considering carrying in his store. I'm not convinced but I'm getting a free light out of the deal so wtf right?
Here is the scoop on the grow;
1 magnum plus2 led grow light
4 THC Snow feminized seeds
2 x 3 gallon standard pots
2 x 3 gallon airpots (strange looking shit)
Pro Mix soil
Advanced nutrients Jungle Juice 3 part lineup with Big Bud, Penetrator and CalMag+
I'm gonna veg for 3-4 weeks depending on the rate of growth, I'm planning on flipping the girls at 24 inches. This is my first time growing with LED and my first time growing THCsnow strain so I'm not quite sure what to expect but from what I hear this strain is a pretty decent producer so 3-4 zips per plant should be the target.
In terms of the light, I hooked it up to a kilowatt meter and it is drawing 330w constant power and the initial fireup is around 360w. My first impression is that its definitely a cool looking piece of equipment and it is incredibly bright. Coverage looks decent and there seems to be more than enough light in my 4x4 closet.
The beans are soaking and starting to pop so I would expect the next update to be in a couple of days when I put the sprouts into plugs.
Like I said, I'm new to this LED thing but have lots of grow time under my belt so hopefully I can answer any questions you might have.
Peace - GGLED

i've been growing with cfl's and was looking into converting to an LED setup. they're just so inconsistent between makers. i don't know what would be the best to use so i hope this goes well, I'll be able to have an idea on what light to get. do you know how much that light costs?

I think it's around a thousand bucks??? I'm not sure exactly.

In case anyone is wondering where the seeds came from I got them from marijuana-seeds.nl I have been buying seeds from these guys for a few years now and they always ALL pop!

how high above the canopy you have to have it to cover 4x4? and what do you think its penetration will be like?, how hot does this thing run?, i really like the look of this light.. if it goes well.. these will be on the cards.. good luck.. apparently growing with led is alot different to hps..

20121216_133854.jpg I have the light about 30 inches above the seedlings right now. It's been 2 days and they are taking off like mad. When first hung the light I had it at 4ft and it appeared to easily cover a 4x4. But in reality that means nothing if the light intensity doesn't measure up  The light runs great and its very quiet. This should be a pretty interesting grow, I'm looking forward to seeing what can be done with an LED.

20121219_101858.jpg20121219_101802.jpg20121219_095525.jpg 5 days in, transplanted the little ladies into their new homes and gave them their first feeding of nutes. The root development is pretty impressive compared to when I usually pop seeds under CFLs. Running the light about 3 ft off of the tops.

IMG_1802.jpgIMG_1803.jpgIMG_1805.jpgIMG_1801.jpgIMG_1800.jpgIMG_1799.jpg 6 days in from seed. I am noticing a bit of what appears to be a calcium/magnesium deficiency I will be add GH calmag+ today. Other than that, things are looking really good. I'm really liking the no heat to deal with issue, the room is at 78 degrees and I'm running about a 100cfm exchange. I just put in a daytime high and nighttime low thermometer to see where we are at with temps. I may have to add in a small heater to keep the temps up at night. Anyways, here are some pics from today.

Too early to get a cal/mag def......your soil should have enough at this point........check your watering habits/ph.........good luck grower

under these lights cal/mag needs are different, i was told x2 from the norm, led growing is different to hps/mh/cfl/t5.

The PH is bang on, I noticed that when I was transplanting them they looked like they had a bit of a nute deficiency but I fed them yesterday and should have cleared that up but it's still there today.

I was told the same thing that because the PAR levels are so high on these lights the demand for nutes and calmag is way up there???

You fed them yesterday? Seems very early....sure it isnt nute burn then?

does look like some nute burn around the edges in some of those pictures..

Some 3500-5000k light will really help with diagnosing those kind of things.

Cant speculate on the Cal/Mag, in the process of finding that out; though I have heard it. Maybe a few of the vets will hop on here and drop a few words on what they have done in the past- a few do soil/LED setups.

Subbed for sure though, Ive been interested in getting a larger panel to run and there are a few grows that are all relatively close to each other; with different lights, mostly the lights Ive been researching! yess....!

Good luck brother
