Making models

I know this sounds silly, but I'm trying to make a scale model of my home and special features of this property. This property has been in the family for over 100 years. I lived on this property for 34 years and my grandpa lI've and played here since he was 10 years old ( in his 80s now).

The owner of the land is the brother of my grandpa's father and he died in june. In July he and his wife died and the kids are selling it to a developer on a already agreed price of 6 million once it comes out of probate. We are very hurt by this because weus forfeit our home and to make matters worse we won't see any of that money and my grandparents are at the age now where they won't get financing.

But anyway I'm wanting to model our homes and special features of the property like the barn, the ponds, fields, springs etc... etc.. etc...

I have already made of model of our homes and barn inside and out using the correct dimissons in sketchup. But I'm not sure how to take those objects from sketch up and make a scale model from that. I also don't no how to take and model the flow of the property.. if anyone has exp in this type of stuff that can give me some pointers and get me pointed in the right direction I would very much appreciate it. Thanks

What is this thread about?
Property that's been in the family for over 100 years is being sold to a developer for 6 million.
The house i grew up in will be destroyed.
I modeled the house with the correct dimensions in sketchup.
I'm finished with it and i would like to take the model in sketchup and somehow make a physical model scaled down to size so i can always have it.
Bunch of sentimental crap that 99% of people wouldn't care, or even understand.

So pick a scale like 1:87 which is HO scale (trains), that would be good cuz you can get a lot of pre made stuff like trees but whatever you like. Get a piece of plywood or something to serve as the base (something that wont warp over time) and start with your property lines and then you can sketch out things on the property like house footprint, drives, pond, whatever. Then you can start layering the terrain and take it from there. Making the building is like making a real bldg just tiny, get a tiny saw and some wood and have at it. Actually you could go to a real hobby shop and they could give you tips on how to make all the stuff plus would love to sell you special junk too.

It pisses me off that i have to even do this. The bitch that got everything is the type of person that walked around with her nose stuck up in the air acting like her shit don't stink. She acted like she was a billionaire, but in reality she didn't have a pot to piss in. She would go around trying to make ppl say that he mom and dad was abusive to her, when they werent. After her mom died, she posted a pic of the bahamas that said "See you soon".. Like who in the fuck does that?!?!?

She says she cries everyday because she missed her mom and dad, but rarely would she come around after she got mad at them one time. She wouldn't even give her mom her shots and for many years a renter and my grandmother would go give her, her shots. I wanna say, "you may be crying, but it isn't tears of sadness, it's tears of joy." but i'm going to keep my mouth shut for now. Every day, all day she posts pics of tropical locations and has booked 10 trips already and even looking for a home to buy.. They died in june, and the place is already being sold in july and she says "it breaks her heart"? YOU DIDN'T EVEN GO TO THEIR MEMORIAL SERVICE BECAUSE YOU WERE TOO BUSY?

Now i know what those aerial surveyors were a doing flying low over the property towards the beginning of the year.

Her son called me out of the blue just crying about his grandma and papa, and said to me, "Be careful, because she's being deceiving".. Who who is being deceiving i asked?. which he responded "you know who". How can you just throw two elders out of their home (they own btw), that doesn't have a place to go, and that's done EVERYTHING for your mom and dad when you refused to even come around except the final week they were alive, out on the street? Who the fuck is going to give them a home loan in when they're in their 80s? Grandmother has cancer, each treatment round cost $81,000+ dollars, which we have to come up with $2k every month out of pocket, and that's with the help of "obamacare" and she finds out last week medicare/cade wtf ever it is, is going to stop paying their portion of it.

Fuck this year!

Sorry i had to get that off my chest.

Yeah, ok. My wife can do that. But her reading this forum seems unlikely. PM me questions and she will answer them.

I'm sure by now there are companies who do 3D fabrication of items for retail. Contact them and see if they can help or what they need

Not sure where to get it, but there exists a thin plastic foam thats rigid and its specifically used to make scale models of buildings. Probably available at a good hobby shop, the kind where you get shit to make balsa and other RC model planes. My buddy bought plans for a house and bought the foam and scaled it out. It was very cool and since it was scale, he could modify the plans. Alas, he died a year before he was gonna actually build the house. Anyway, sounds like a great fun project

@kor420 are you planning on 3d printing this? Either way, it can be done. That was my wife's job before taking care of a wiggly baby lured her away from a life of Sketchup. She would be glad to help you out.
