Mars Hydro New Release

It looks like Mars Hydro has upgraded their SP 250 light with the release of the SP 3000 (they still can't get away from that annoying practice though) which is a 300 watt light. The price is $399.99 US dollars.
MH say the light uses 960 Samsung LM301B and Osram 660nm LEDs. They claim a PPE of 2.74 -2.82 μmol/joule. The driver used is a Mean Well ELGC-300-H-AB. According to the drivers datasheet "de-rating may be needed under low input voltages" so anyone using 180VAC or under will only be able to use 85% of the drivers wattage potential.

Their sales page also mentions UVA 390-410nm and IR 730-740nm (please call it far red, darn it!), but there's no mention which diodes if any were used for those wavelengths. The MH site also says "More warm white and red chips have been added", so hopefully this light does a better job flowering plants than some of their previous offerings did.

Wow, they ACTUALLY took my advice.

Think people should boycot anything "led" with three zeros, 000's. With SP250 or SP150 a person could reasonably know what to expect when plugging in.
Lol.
Seems like we still have the suchnsuch-2000 from the end of the millennia.

Yes, and any brand which have ever marketed a "Penetrator" or "Punisher" model or anything with these weird sexual connotations which seems to allways pop up with led lights. Anyone who caters to to man-on-plant sexual violence should not be supported.

Looking at ordering an LED this week.
I am looking to replace 1000W as i will be running just that light alongside a normal HP light which will be varying from 250-600 depending on what sort of summer we get. (will eventually go full LED when i can afford it)

Dont mind paying for quality.

What do you recommend

As I frequently say, the best light is the light that best fits your situation. I recommend a new thread asking for suggestions and give info about your situation. Be humble, we tend to eat newbies for breakfast around here. ;-)

Description and size of grow space.
Temperature and humidity conditions.
Why LED?
Budget.
Experience.
Country or region of the world.
Willing to assemble or DIY.
All the things I'm forgetting.

I am currently running 2 sp150's and I love the quality it's one of the best lights I seen from Mars hydro. I been watching that sp3000 before it got released and would love to get my hands on one but the price is too high for me to risk it when I can get an HLG 300L Rspec for almost the same price. Also I agree on naming the lights with an extra decimal that really throws off new growers. I have met so many people thinking they are running a grow room with 1,000-2,000 watts of light when in reality they are running 200 or less watts of light.

Now that I've seen this I am torn between two of the MH 3000 or one GeekBeast Pro.
So far not one independent review of the GeekBeast. Why?

Cause they aren't funded like Mars is.
How much can it cost to send a light to MyGro to test? Like almost nothing? It seems that quite a few people are interested in this light but waiting for some impartial conformation of their too good to be true ratings. By the way I hope they are true, but if there is no test soon, I will buy something else. What really gets me is that a few members of this forum have one, promised to at least do some simple testing and all I hear is crickets. I guess they lost their enthusiasm for some reason or other.

Yeah, this is a test done by the same company that sells them. In fact all the info I found on YouTube was posted by the company or it's sales people. As much as I like to trust people, after my recent experience with Canna-Seed I need some kind of proof, and YouTube videos put up by the company that is selling them does not qualify as Cochrane level evidence.

People hate to admit they wasted money if they didn't post the test it's because the light didn't work out
