What do you guys think of this:

http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1387543-Vertical-LED-Panels

Been watching it for sometime. I'm highly sceptical. You should look their prices, which recently dropped, shocker. It feels like a total scam to me, with the unfinished website and everything....

EDIT: By the way, it is a secret what lights exactly they use, and they have to buy a million of them in order to get them hahaha
Old news unfortunately....they were on here about 8 weeks ago? and relegated to the Sponsor's Advertisements...like the infamous Spyder :peace: the graveyard of threads

Bonjour
I can see those light every night...it looks like the led bar in my town tunnels!!! Street lights!
But the idea is cool...maybe few small cxb 2520/30 on the side if you grow tall plants or if you are lazy like me it will allow you to let everything on the plant and avoid bloom preparation!
When I will have more than 4 cxb in my 3.5x3.5 I will give an angle to the one on the side...!
Or we should create a cob dome around the plant...parabolic panel!

Wow, um some people on this site seem to be grade A knobs.
That's what @REALSTYLES said about a year ago when he had a dozen Mars II's in the mail. Please, DO NOT follow his example. Always, always, wear eye protection.

Seriously, it's not a lot of money to lose. Give it a try if you want. I think the concern is that people get a bad opinion of LED because of these epi-whatever products.

You could do much worse. You could get sucked into the rebranded imports sold at 5x markup. (Lush, Kind, HydroGrowLED, BlackDog, GrowBlu). That's when it's painful.

Small HPS is 10% or more efficient than any of the MARs....and can last for years...So no, buying a cheap piece of shit LED fixture isn't the only addendum to DIY or quality pre built....

fyi DIY is usually cheaper watt per watt than any MARs I am aware of.
DIY might be cheaper, but most people don't go for DIY, probably 98% of LED users use pre-built fixtures. And a 250w HPS didn't work in my situation, got same results with 250w HPS as I did with the first generation Blackstar LED light (which cost a lot more than a similar wattage Mars hydro does today).

Mars suck. Been playing with one in a small cupboard.

My t5s are better. I would run anything over them. You would be better off with cfl.
I've used 250w CFLs, 2700K and 6500K. Also some T8s and PL-Ls, I would take a Mars hydro over fluorescents any day.

You don't have to DIY COBs and the market is quickly evolving where there are a few off-the-shelf panels available. They are a bigger initial investment but will triple the output of the MARS tech and pay off in a grow or two at most. Some like the A51 allow you to try real grow lights for under $200 and see the difference for yourself. I'd challenge anyone who tried them to go back to MARS. MARS are decent veg lights at best, there is no defense or argument that they can flower bud anywhere close to the efficiency, density and weight produced by COBs.

A51 doesn't ship to Europe.

The nice thing about T5 is you can replace the bulbs. It's a long-term investment. Any of the epi-whatever products (inexpensive Mars, or the overpriced re-brands like HydroGrowLED) are basically throwaway. I don't see the value proposition in that. When for the same money, a person can do T5 for short spaces, CMH for tall.

Or, invest more into Cree lightbulbs for short, A51 for tall. (10-year warranty for the former, lifetime for the latter).

Just DIY it's easier than you think. I've made 14 panels so far. I wish I didn't get Mars because 15 months the light fails and they have poor customer service. Instead of smashing the Mars II 1200 I took it apart and found out why the diodes burnt out. It had very poor heat sinks lol. I sent one of the drivers out too get tested.

What ever. Got any pics of your cfl grows? I garuntee that mars doesn't do better than my t5 ho.

I will go led after this grow but its going to be diy cob.

Hey everyone!!

I'm looking at buying the marshydro 400 2 black series, I've got a small grow tent, 60cm×60cm. Are these lights any good? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about them but good results in general about LEDs

For the price they dont seem too bad
Build a cob light fixture instead

Good cob panel in EU???
The best with mono but too expensive for me...ISLED!!...good quality! But nothing on diodes use...it is a secret...!
Grow Up led going to release a cxb 3590 panel soon
And my favorite is todogrowled in spain...he have cxb panel 3070 @1400mA and Vero29 @full w! At decent prices!(they have good price and panel but they said bullshit about panel capacity...!)
Hans pannel too...and if you want to laugh a bit go on bionicled.fr site!
Have a great day ★

If I remember right Area 51 has someone in Europe that buys A51 panels in bulk for resale there, the name may be in the Area 51 info thread or contact a51 for it.
yeah there's a guy in Germany, I haven't contacted him because I already bought enough LEDs. But if someone doesn't use this forum there's no way they could ever find out about a german guy selling lights that aren't listed on his hydro store website. That italian company looks good though.

There's a lot of people growing with Mars hydro locally, it's only a good thing, the more people growing weed the better. A lot of people don't want to grow because they're afraid of HID lights, and for a good reason too, CDM bulbs for example can blow up. I know people that couldn't wire up a HPS kit, I honestly think it's better that they don't even try building a COB fixture.

so thankfully i read this before spending almost 3000 on some mars2 1600s and 2 of the big reflector series, i just have a few questions if you guys can answer them. im totally up for the DIY lights but i need lights for the time being while i build the other set. Im moving and already sold all my current setup.
im trying to cover a 5x10 which will then become my veg room when i build the other lights. i can probably throw some lights together for cheap, but all this talk about alibaba made me look up premade lights and on their site I found this

http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/led-grow-lights-canada-usa-full_60220587481.html?spm=a2700.7724838.30.158.pKGiL6

do you guys think these will be better than mars hydros for the time being( 3-6 months max)
im going to try and get the biggest ones they have and like 2-3 of them.... im just looking on anybodys opinion who is saying that cob lights are better. or are these not the right cob lights?. please any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. please tell me if theres something im missing when im searching for lights, light a certain led or something. thanks!
