Maybe a dumb newbie question, but here goes....strains from seeds

Hey fredd. My strain of choice right now is called Critical Kush. I recommend, even though it is from barneys farm and again, someone has already disputed them in this thread. Everyone has an opinion man, it's just best to learn and continue being intrigued by the hobby and eventually you'll have you own opinions, which will be the facts of your life, lol. I'm currently running a scrog and yes, it helps support the tops. Do A LOT of research on Scroggins if you plan to do it, there's so much helpful tutorials and write ups out there. Also, your topping method makes sense. Again, just do your homework and you'll be alright. It sounds like you've already put a lot of thought into this, I think you're in for a pretty nice first grow!

And! If you're running soil, you can easily run different strains! Variety is definitely nice. Each strain has a different nutrients uptake, so it's risky to be thrown more than one learning curve on your first run but the truth is, If you take the time to read the plants and keep your nose in the books so to speak, you could definitely pull it off

Thanks, I like the idea of scrogging, and may do it down the road....I am getting ready to lurk over at Grow Room Setup to plan my gear. I have to put some other things into play (power to the grow area, concealment, etc) So far so good!

I have a critical kush from good old barney. It's very vigorous and busy just started week 4 of flower and looks pretty good. Not super frosty but has a very strong kushy lemony smell. I have some strains that are a little frostier but don't smell at all so more trichomes does not equal more smell necessarily. I have a super frosty blue magoo that really is a mellow clear headed smoke. DJ Short specifically breeds strains that are more of a clear minded high you are looking for. He is the most legit breeder out there in my opinion. I like the guy and I love his strains. I say when you pick a strain research who owns the company. In my advice if you are a first time grower get a verified genetic clone from a reliable source.

Freddfish , good post , I enjoyed the info that everyone gave. I'm back to smoking myself again after 25 years. One hit usually gets me peaceful , lol. 50 plus now and have to say I quit smoking for a few reasons not to mention the stigma , work requirements , my kids. Just didn't have the time. Now that I'm older , sicker , wiser..I see the benefits of what now is my medicine. i am enjoying my journey this time. I can relate to everything you have said so far ! lol. Glad I'm not alone. Going to bed with the wife, kicking back watching a good movie while I take a hit every half hour ..priceless.

Bearing in mind that I have never done this:

I figure to take a few clones off the plants close to the end of the veg period, get them started under CFLs while the originals flower out, then put them in the tent after harvest.

I don't know if this is even workable, but that is the plan. (I am figuring to bite the bullet and use a multi$pectrum LED lighting $olution, so I won't be dealing with MH vs HPS for the different cycles)

Trying to stay covert, even from the folks I am living with.
That's exactly the way to do it. Always have clones vegging while your others are flowering.

Also save on seeds that way too...but I am going to be trying different strains. It'll go the way it goes, I guess....regardless of my plans.

Getting back into smoking after so long out of the game is a pain in the ass though...I don't know anybody that is moving small amounts, I had a perfect rep back in the day, but nobody knows that anymore, and the people I AM getting from are a bit sketchy. I wish I could just cruise into a dispensary and start pointing and buying....or at least find a decent street dealer.

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered some Blue OG G13 Lab seeds. They came feminized, even though I was fairly confident after all my research that I could figure out the whole sexing thing (with a little help from my friends, here) but the price was right, and they even threw in 2 extra fem seeds of an indeterminant strain. I really like what leafly.com had to say about Blue OG though...it sounds like just the ticket.

This was Original Sensible Seeds Co...I liked their site and the ease of navigation, and I have heard they are a good seller from some of the folks here.

Now I have another problem though...I am getting ready to move, so I won't be able to get my indoor garden started until afterwards. This kinda sucks, but will help me get motivated to get all the shit done so I can get started. Always a silver lining, eh?

I bought some other seeds for some outdoor stuff I will be doing with a friend...that should help a bit with the hands on, until I can get settled in with my 400W HID and a tent.

High times ahead!
