Meigs County Gold

Hey everyone. I know a lot of people think that any marijuana grown from Meigs County, OH is Meigs County Gold but it's actually a popular strain from the 70s and 80s.

I'm actually in Meigs, and I have been trying to track down the seeds for weeks. I know there are some older posts about it, but I haven't heard anything recently of the strain and I live here.

The information I got from my various connections point to older growers having more information on it. I contacted a few of my uncles that used to grow and they told me the same thing. One of them said that he actually smoked with Willie Nelson a few times because he liked to come to Meigs for the strain. I'm not sure how true that is, but I've heard Willie did like Meigs Gold. Anyway, my uncles said they would ask around but I haven't heard anything yet.

I finally got a lead recently from a friend to talk to one of my buddies. I was excited at first because the friend he referred me to was actually one of my best friends a few years back. I contacted him but he said he's been out of the game for four years. He stopped growing because he was paranoid of the cops, and he basically said that he didn't want me to grow for the same reason. As a result, I basically got no information from him. What I thought would have been the lead I was looking for, turned out to be a case of over protection. I understand the risks, as do the majority of people who grow in spite of it being illegal. He didn't really care, just didn't want me to risk it. He did tell me that older growers have seeds stored, but I already knew that.

So now I'm back to square one. No leads, just some talk here and there. I'm very interested in obtaining the seeds because it was once such a prevalent strain and it's part of the history of my county. I know there are better strains out there but this one has more value to me because it's local. I've heard that older gentlemen stopped growing it because they were afraid of commercialization. That's understandable but I still don't think the "legend" should die. Our county isn't the greatest and we don't have a whole lot of money but we do know how to grow our weed.

I was hoping that someone who frequents the Rollitup community could shed some light as to whether it's still being grown. Of course, a lead to the seeds would be amazing, but I can settle for a simple confirmation that it's still around and being enjoyed. It'd be nice to know if our local legend is still going.

Im from athens area..ive heard of it and its a local legend..as to where to find them youll be lucky to find..few years back i had a grower that had some shit that killed elvis crossed with MG so? idk..best weed i ever smoked.

I saw someone on here say it was gone. That dude who was the "only" one with it died in a motorcycle accident. I never heard about this so I asked around. Was told its still around. Alive and kicking. Was told I was welcome to a cut. But passed. Never was really a fan of it. Didn't even ask about seeds. I'll be seeing the guy I spoke with soon. I'll ask him about seeds. And let you know. I agree that it really seems like only the old heads mess with this one any more

when i was in gallip[olis i had a strain called elvis supposedly a nl and s skunk hybrid heard of it?

As far as Meigs gold goes the story I got from old man Priddy himself (maybe the largest scale gorilla grower ohio has ever seen) about a year before he died is that the strain is dead. He told me that it was grown by a local family (which he wouldn't name) who are all either dead or in prison. About 5 years ago I heard rumors that the last member of the family got out of prison and supposedly started a second generation of the strain but I have yet to verify it. Even if so it's not the same. Before they ruined the business old man Piddy's grandsons were pushing what they were claiming was the 2nd generation meigs gold, but I wasnt very impressed. Likely it was something they grew themselves and quite badly at that....they obviously never learned the art of curing from their grandfather. So I dont think it's likely anyone will find and seeds of this iconic strain but I wish you the best of luck, and if you do find some seeds spread the love around.

NL x skunk is pretty much 90% the of what I got in the early/mid 2000's. That combo is hard to fuck up, so I'm guessing it may be a local variety or one of many Elvis varieties, we near me(New England) had a sativa called Elvis, very upbeat and like a haze, spicy Woody incense stuff.

I’m from here and this information is correct. And I also agree you won’t find it here anymore it’s gone. People try to pass it off all the time but it will never be that true meigs county gold all those old guys are gone but there legacy is all that’s left. Those guys kept there cards close to there chest n lever let the secret completely out of the bag so to speak.

Acapulco Gold mixed with skunk #2 My father created the strain
Ok any chance you know what skunk#2 it was they used as there are two lines theres the red skunk line from holland that stems from when skunk first hit that ferry worked/sold in the 80s/90s that still exists and then theres the one sam skunkman claims/talks of but seems to only exist on paper and no one seems to have kept any clones of it those two both get labelled skunk2 so its a lil confusing ?

Athens county here, I have seen a few reputable seed banks and genetics companies that are claiming to have seeds of hybrids that Meigs Gold is a dominant parent. I grew up partaking in the Meigs Green and the Gold. I would definitely love to get some seeds of each and bring the strains back. But I have found zero info on the Green online but I have found a few articles on the Gold including one that had the genetics of the original Gold. But as elusive as the info is I suspect that it is bs and just someone made some stuff up for an article. But if you are interested in the company I have done business with that's claiming to seeds of the Gold hybrid. But I would definitely love to get a couple of seeds of those old strains for old times sake but I would love to see those old Meigs and Athens Strains make a comeback to prominence.

Skunk #2 was bred by Nevil/Seed Bank. It is the exact same genetics as Sk1, but had No Selection Process.

Skunk No. 2

Bred by The Seed Bank
Here you can find all info about Skunk No. 2 from The Seed Bank.

Basic infos

Skunk No. 2 is an mostly indica from The Seed Bank and can be cultivated indoors and outdoors The Seed Bank's Skunk No. 2 is/was never available as feminized seeds.

The Seed Bank Description

Released 1985 via Nevilles seed catalog

For simplification, I've decided to call this batch of seeds of SK 2. This is the exact same genetic material as SK 1, but pollination has occurred randomly between plants of the same strain. It will certainly produce plants of the same quality as SK 1, but because there was no selection, these seeds will be sold at a lower price. Great value if your budget is limited.

I have managed to source some of the OG seeds and have them currently. Unfortunately just too late for this year's outdoor crop. I have been thinking about trying to dwarf it for indoors growing. But I can definitely tell you that back in the day it was a monster and litterally grew to tge size of a tree back in the day. I am actually surprised that the Meigs medical grow companybhad not brought it back and started to comercialy grow it. I know its been 30 something years since I have last seen it available or anyone talking about it it really except for the few OGs still in the game. But I have heard the guy that did most of the growing and development had Gotten too big and was on Johnny laws radar and was watched for several years and got out of it but what was willing to share his knowledge of growing in the region with others who smoked him out with their personal grows head stash. I also heard a few stories they were killed in a farm accident and killed in a wreck as well as that they had died from cancer and probably all bs but I do think that they are definitely deceased because of the fact it is no longer talked about and no longer available. But I do have the real deal seeds from a reputable guy I have dealt with since middle school. I had mentioned that I wanted to try my hand at the legend and about a month later he handed me the original non feminized real deal seeds as well as two types of hybrids but I do have a bunch of the hybrids and a few of the the og MG seeds that had been properly stored since the late 1980s when a late friend of ours was gifted them and when our buddy had passed on his ex wife had given my buddy his seed bank of a bunch of the legendary strains of southern Ohio. Including his skunk and old school original Green Cush aka Green crack that got very popular about a decade later after it ended up in Snoop Digs bong and it took off. But I hadn't had my late friends hybrid since 94 when he moved out of state and I had also moved out of state and then recently moved back to Ohio but I am definitely open to trading some seeds if you are serious about trying to bring it back like I am .

I am from Athens not far from Meigs and its definitely around in small quantities still if you know the right people. I grew up in Athens and moved backna few years ago and had mentioned to some friends that had family that were very involved in the game back in the 70s, 80s, and the 90s and I was able to track down legit seeds from trusted sources and had been properly stored since the late 1980s. It was definitely too late to get them going for the outdoors season but I am going to grow a few next summer but I did end up with some of the original seeds and a bunch of hybrids as well. But I agree that most of the crap out there is bs and not Meigs Gold when its from a 20 something year old. THEY weren't even a wet spot on the sheets the last time I had seen legit well grown MG in the 1990s but hopefully the seeds I have obtained are still good since they are from 1988 and had been in the back of my friends seed fridge for a long time. He got them from a buddy back in the day who was very active in growing here in the late 80s and early 90s till he moved out of state. But its definitely still around if you know those who were part of it back in the day. Most of the folks I deal with are all over the age of 50 and few people who are in their late 40s and got into the game from their dad's and older brothers. If you are legit let's talk.
