Micro Growing Setup Advice

Yo guys,

I'm new on this forum! I'm from The Netherlands. I grow for three years now, on my Balcony (so outside). Since this year I can use a closet (40 x 40 x 80cm). I want to grow one plant, that can be an autoflower or a normal plant. I was thinking of a setup of 8 CFL lamps with a wattage of 23 Watts. For the vegging phase I want to use 8 lamps of 6500K and for the flowering phase I want to switch 4 of them to 2700K 42 Watts.

Is this a good setup for just one plant? I have built in a short swinging ventilator already for some wind to strenghten the young seedlings.

Do you have any suggestions for extra equipment?

Let me know! I'm just a newbie so all the information is more than welcome :)

Grtz, Zeno

The CFLs will work, although not the best. That’s very low wattage, are you able to invest in more/better lighting?

In your future grow space, do you have a means to bring fresh air in and exhaust out air?

Are you setup with grow medium and nutrients?

I'd suggest against CFLs. The spectrum flexibility they offer does not make up for their poor efficacy and poor spread of light. I'm not sure if you intend to use reflectors or not with the CFLs but regardless, the amount of light they emit per watts consumed is horrible.

I'd suggest buying a cheap purpose-built grow light but even if you choose not to, go with any type of generic LED rather than CFL. A 3500K LED will work well from seed to harvest and if you can find one with as high lumen/watt as possible and above 50W (or 2-3 LEDs adding up to 50W).
