For indoor growing - is misting plants a good idea or a bad idea? When searching through threads here I felt that there was no real clear consensus on whether or not misting plants that are growing indoors is a good idea, so I thought I would post a poll to see what the results are, so please weigh in and vote as to whether or not you feel that misting plants is a good or bad idea.

Misting plants is a good in moderation, I mean, it rains in nature does it not? During mid/late flowering I'd avoid misting as much as possible, can cause more harm than good, mold ect.

Also misting is excellent for treating deficiencies fast.

Peeps do it many different ways...

I mist soil on clones and seedlings, I do not mist leaves, I try to not put anything on young leaves that will have them droop more...

Me....I mist soil yes...
Mist plant no...

After the seedling/clone root growth stage, I do not mist...

I tried finding that information too friend, as I'm also a first time grower. Seems like there are pros/cons to misting and it's personal preference from what I can gather.

If you're using a HPS / HID type bulb, most say avoid misting as it can be dangerous (bulbs explode?), unless you pull your plants out of that room to mist first.. If you're using CFLs, mist away. Then the concerns become water spots weighing the leaves down and some say magnification of light therefore burning the leaves.

I do not yet have an exhaust fan in my tent, so I keep it open (since i'm vegging) and I find that my RH drops because of it. I've been slightly misting 1-2 times a day to keep up humidity, with no ill-effect on my seedlings yet.

if you have high RH >40 percent, then maybe you don't need to mist? Can any pros chime in?

I mist em, wile they are seedlings and in early Veg. specially if I have a low humidity, witch I often have (30-40%) once they are settled and have develop a good root net its not so much needed, I do it early in the morning (lights on) sumetimes twice a day if RH is 30% and of course away from the light/any electricity, I use as fine mist as possible, and I mist em under the leaf`s as that is where its pores is located and is where the plant "breath" as I use T5HO fluorescent light I don't have a problem sticking them in under it right away, but if I where to use a big MH light I would atlest give em 5-10 minutes to drip off a bit, I also use a water agent (not needed) to break water tension so the plant can absorb it easy (wet betty is common, I use yucca) and I only add nutrients if I see a deficiencies, otherwise it go in the soil or is there already, I also like not to use Tap water or any water with high amounts of calcium as I dont like it on my leaf`s so if I cant collect some rain water/snow I use bottle water

Search for the "make it rain technique" from a grower called RIDDL3M3.

Misting has its place if you want to incorporate it.

I don't ever mist anymore but not because it is bad or anything it is ok if you have low humidity or a lot of dust in the air or if you are breeding or something plenty of reasons to do it if you want to. be sure to raise up your light and not spray up at it, a hot hid buld will explode if you spray it with water.

Exactly to the comment above.

I was misting my plants (w/ straight water) up to wk 6 flower. Humidity in tent was jumping around from 20-35. I felt like misting helped out. Using led's therefore no intense heat hitting top canopy. After light misting noticed they stank a bit more. Feel like my plants got a great immune system, never had a mold issue and she resisted a spider mite attack like a champ (with the help of a little neem oil, Einstein to be exact). Overall, mist if you have low rh levels. Like mentioned before, it rains outside. These wonderful plants did evolve outdoors btw. I dont really fuck around with foliar feeding. Only misted cuttings and rooted clones with super diluted b12 or algemic.

Just be careful with nice juicy matured buds. If you mist too hard and get them too wet, water will get into the crevices in between the calyx pods and mold your shit up. Never happened to me but it feels like common sense.
