Mixed spectrum COBs

Okay. So what pricings are your cobs Stephen? Because the 4 cree chips from cutter come in at about $500. With drivers, reflectors and those large pin fin coolers.

I'm in Australia btw. Might be a bit much to ship here.

I would recommend even looking into the new seventh gen Vero29s. ~100 more PPFD, my 90CRI Vero29C @1670mA vs. my 80CRI CXB3590 @ 2150mA.

I don't think cutters kits change spectrum. I think they're single channel dimmed. One dimmer for the entire setup. And no switches to select which cobs are on and which are off.

I have 3 single-chip fixtures for this reason.

I don't really have a cash falling out my pockets though. I'm basically looking for the best light I can get for around the $500-600 mark. Even if it's more power than what I currently need. Just means I'll have to turn it down. Until I decide to chuck it into a bigger confine.

I think current gen Vero29Cs are cheaper than CXB3590s. Like.. CXB3590s are still good and top shelf, but they are as of very recently, one half-gen behind.

I do like Cutter/GrowMau5, I'm just giving my own personal insight to help him consider.

The Vero kits are cheaper. But, I found the lack of spectrum choices to be unappealing. Hence the interest in the Cree chips. However. If Vero does it just as good or better than Cree. Even from a price point. I'll still be interested.

Kingbrite may have them as well as check with cobkits

Hmmm. Just had a quick look. The Vero 29 does 4 chips up to 90w each for $600. Where as the Cree chips are only running about 50w each. With the same number of chips. And only a 250w driver. Vs the Vero kits 400w driver.

I see it. The 90cri looks more white than the 80cri.

That PPFD is way off for the HPS side, see my signature for the correct numbers. PPF is what you're thinking but that's even off after the real reflector loss.

There is no way PPF is that high. 1200-2100 PPF would be hella intense. I think one of my unit's PPFs is like, 196.

A 600 HPS is between 1000-1100 umol straight from the bulb. (Sphere Verified) Now that being said most reflectors are 80% efficient or basically that 1000 turns into 800 so on so forth. Add glass and your down 4% more.

Now those Ledil reflectors olive is using are around 92% efficient (sphere verified). So no free lunch but it can easily be seen that directionally light (led) suffers less loss due to beam correction than its 360° light (HID) brethren.

PPFD is what makes it to the canopy, PPF it total light emitted... Essentially

Yeah, but the measurement/formula is different. Look, you can see one of these lamps has a PPF of 196 but a PPFD of 932.

These are 95 CRI w/ colors filling in the gaps of regular white for a full spectrum. They also have a veg switch which would help keep em stout prior to flower.
