MMJ On Your Record?Good Or Bad?

Obviously if you were to obtain a license it would be on your medical record, but will cops be able to find out? I do not want to apply for one and have my chances of getting pulled over or stopped by a police officer increase. I understand it's all confidential but still. Never know what's going on these days with the officials and stalking us through our cell phones.

Any doctor you go to for any reason will only be known by you and whomever you tell.

well, you kinda answered your own question. It's confidential. There should be no way for a police office pulling you over to know whether you have a medical marijuana card or not, but like you said, you never know.

Will it be on my health insurance? I'm not too sure because going to this type of doctor you have to pay upfront and usually if you have insurance when you go to your regular doctor; it's covered. Help.

Insurance companies have access to your entire medical record. If you've been to a doctor and he recommended a marijuana license , they will know. The good news is, there is a handful of insurance companies that now fully cover medical marijuana as a prescription drug and more will come in the future. Basically, there are "marijuana friendly" insurance companies. Not sure exactly who, but with enough homework you can find one. I know this from working at a insurance/brokerage firm and it came up often, but I lack specifics.

Okay so if my health insurance sends me something in the mail if I were to get my license, would it say that on the mail? I don't want my mom to know cuz she wouldn't like what I've decided to do, but I really don't want her finding out if we were to get a confirmation mail or something from my health insurance. Has anyone gone to see a specialist and they asked for your insurance card?

In post #2 I plainly said, no one else will know. That includes your insurance company, unless you tell them about it.

I have to say Pot Roast said it right, there is a law called HIPPA and that means no one but you and whomever you say can look at your record. Here in Montana to get a license you have a Doc sign a document that says you have a medical condition that MMJ may help. It is not a prescription. Then you pay the state money and name your caregiver which is the grower or you can name yourself as the grower. You can also get a card by being a grower and have patients name you as their caregiver then you get 6 plants and an ounce dry for each patient. It is illegal for them to tell anyone including your employer, even if you are employed by the state. But on the flip side you don't want to be smoking up at work if you drive a bus etc... That would get you fired from your employer and have nothing to do with you having a card. Once you go legal you want to stay legal. Reup your card every year. Stick to the client base you have named etc..
