Day 23&24:
Well a little brown slime started to apeer. changed res added 1.5 tsp to 1.5 gallons of water. added like 1oz of h202 cause I was out of it. checked ph added cap full of ph up.Perfect. roots cleared in seconds after putting them in the water. Order confirmation seeds where shipped. went to 18/6 last night box temp dropped to around 66. not too bad gonna cover the box tonight with a blanket. plants were alittle droopy this morning lifted right back up with the lights. hoping to get a good push of growth so I can be done with this grow in about a month hopefully. hope flowering doesn't take to long might have to start trimming light down to 10/14 to help make them work faster. At day 32&31 they will go into 24 hr dark I will then switch my lights to being on during the night because it gets cold on the porch and cover them up during the day

Day 24&25: man everyday I enjoy working with my plants more and more. and everday realize I fuck up lol. last 2 nights I had to plug my water heaterin to one of the light sockets. I'm an adiot when the lights go off it kills power to the heater duh. temps were down to about 66 last night. plants looked good this morning. Balenced ph today and trimed a couple dead yellow leaves off. The lower half of the plant is still suffering from all the bull shit before. Adding 1.5 tsp of nutes worried me a little bit it seems so good so day 29/30 flush 30/31half veg nutes half bloom decreesing beg to all bloom. Alright grab your towels I couldn't resist.

I skimmed through most of this thread. I would say... control your temps first. Also, Ventilation can be controlled by a thermostat. Try here for a very effective unit that is cost efficient: DL Weather Proof Mechanical Thermostat for Outdoor or Indoor (Made in Holland)
I have my fans set to kick on at 75 degrees. I also just have circulation fans... That thermostat can also control a heating device BTW. I could probably be convince to pull mine apart and show you how to wire it.;)

You really shouldn't have to change water out more than once a week or so... Just will need to add to it every few days. I do not run h202 in mine at all. I run 1/2 to 3/4 nutes at all times. When I first start I may even give them 1/8 or less strength and build up to higher TDS. What do you start your PH at? What do you let it drift up to before readjusting? What nutrients are you using? Is your water too cold in the res?? You can get aquarium heaters to solve this.

I think your doing pretty good. Just work on controlling the environment more and I feel you will have more stable results.

Wow man thanks for your feed bake I love it. Couple things I know my enviorment sucks ass. I am subject to the weather cause I am on a three season porch. But as I got my feet wet with this grow I said I have to do this rite. So I am ordering a tent 36"20"64" It's going inside where I can control the temp outside the tent. Getting a 40o MH HPS system. my reflector will be euadd 3/4tsp to 1.5 gallons of water it balences it to 5.5. withen one day the ph is definetly around 6.5 then I balence with up and down ph control liquid form. I got a stealth heater from the pet shop I have the heater set at 68-70 degrees. What kind of nutes are you using? I picked these because saw another guys grow and he was using them. They stood out to me cause I saw them at the hydro shop and then saw his grow. His plants r doing real well and is using the recomended dose on the package. The night time temps seem to be killing me right now. Im not starting my new grow without my tent so
I should be all set come then

I think the tent is a good Idea. As I said I am using Fox-Farms Trio...so: Grow Big, Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom. I am very Leary of nutrient recommended dosages so I always cut them down a bit and gradually increase to full strength as they show signs of improvement. This allows me to not have to deal with a plant trying to recover from catastrophic nute burn...LOL (did this on my first soil grow)

As for PH, I have been following Zens recommendation and starting my ph around 5.5 or a little less... Usually after 2/3 days it is at 6.5 or so and needs topping off and readjustment. I really just peek in on them, see how much water they are drinking and do what needs to be done.

Overall I am thinking you will be much happier with the tent indoors where you can control things a bit more. Although... what about some insulation under your plants? This would keep the cold away too.mmmm I also think having your exhaust on a thermostat would help a lot too. in winter my cabinets can get quite cool if the fans are running all the time. Also.. if you are running a carbon scrubber and in-line fan in the tent (you will at least eventually need one) Beware they are loud...LOL :)

As I said I am using Fox-Farms Trio...so: Grow Big, Big Bloom Thought these were for soil grows? I turn my fans off at night and the temp with my lights onright now are in the high 70's I will be using a charcol filter for smell as I won't be having more than three plants at all times. shouldn't be too bad.

So when you add water does your water have nutes in it?

They sell FF for both Hydro and soil. As a matter of fact both big bloom and tiger bloom are for hydro/soil already. Big Bloom is organic and will not work in sprayer type hydroponic systems... but for bubblers it has been just fine. They sell a specific version of Grow Big for Hydroponics. I have both soil and hydro Grow Big and use the soil stuff on my hempys and it works great. So far I am pretty pleased with Fox Farm.

Its easier to explain the whole "watering" System. I start with a fresh res all filled with whatever strength solution I am using at the time. When I top off the res's a couple days later I mix a solution that is 1/2 the strength of what I mixed for the fresh res. Then a few days later I do the same, xcept now the solution is at 1/4 strength... Then usually once more with that same solution strength..(1/4) and then its time for a res change. And the shit starts all over..LOL

bigdiggy I thinnk does the same thing. It seems like it's working. I would love to do 2.5 gallon buckets One air pump 3 individule air stones 3 4" net pots and run them that way. So If one plant reacts diffrently than the other. The other 2 don't get mesed up. I'm gonna look into finding the buckets. I will try to get them black already. What do you use for your ph up and down? liquid or powder. you use a ppm meter or test kit?

Right now I am using a test kit from GH. Along with their liquid down solution. I am thinking i am going to buy some powdered ph Down though as I go through a bit:). that is an advantage to have each with its own res rather than them all recirculating. I really don't mind the maintenance. Soil was worse..LOL I am keeping small plants with 1/2 gl res... you could have some pretty good size plants with 2 gl each I am sure. I am doing a sog rotation with Lollipop so I think Ill be ok in this size... to grow anything bigger than an 18"-24" lollipop would probably take a few gal res.

lollipop? I was at the fish store and the chick told me that the powder is better. But I think I am going to be doing auto flowering for three crops then gonna blast my g13x haze for 8 months next year. Try to get 3 good grows then back to auto for the winter. easier said than done. good talking with you. have to bounce. lata
