My First Hempy Bucket Grow

Most people running 2L bottles seem to go from rooted clone, right into flower as vegging it is a mute point since they are basically like GYRO is doing, and just growing ONE BIG BUD in each 2 Liter. From what I have seen, 2 liters are meant for SOG's, so no need to veg,, In fact most are Defoliating and letting the light get all up on the bud
I think the ones going straight into flower are the guys with aerocloners. Their roots are usually long enough to reach the bottom of the 2L.

Mine were taken kind of small so after they were transplanted, they were left to veg about 10 days. They were really starting to take off so I figured the roots had hit bottom or were close to it. Now that they are under the HPS they are growing like crazy. I already had to trim off the lower stuff. It it too early to defoliate, but they are touching. My scissors are ready....

Some insight on MY feeding in the 2L bottles. I started from seed and am in my 5th week of veg in my 2 liters. I am feeding as soon as lights come on and about 8 hours later, running 18/6. If I had the green light in there this time I could probably do a 3rd feeding. Yesterday I sealed up my holes that were 2 1/2" up and redid them close to 4" up in hopes of keeping from having to water so frequently. Id say if you go str8 from cloner, to 2L and a weeks veg then right to flower you're sitting pretty. Not too sure the 2L are any good for a decent amount of veg. Many people say that you cant get root bound in a hempy. But then I also know some people that will force rootbound for some seriously compact nugs. I guess only time will tell.

Happy Sunday!
Wow scr I can't believe that you have to water so much, but if they are feeding that much, they must be growin hard.
I water my 2L's every 1 1/2 light cycles (36 hrs) & my temps are high (90's) + the plants are rather mature 6' long (notice I didn't say tall)

Good point... I put mine into flower, but the roots are nowhere near the res. So we just made a conscious decision to leave this one in flower, and water it every day until the roots hit the res. If it does not work we wont do it with the 15 we just took, and instead, we will veg those for a little while.

As soon as I transplant, I water them just a little bit every day just to keep them moist on top. Once I put them in flower, I only water every other day. I never flood the entire reservoir if I can help it. I think the reason mine can go that long is because of the defoliation.

Yea I'm surprised too. Mine are probably 12" or so right now. Each of them topped for 4. The 2 in 2L have had the drainage hole raised to 4" and it seems to buy me more time. Last 2 days I've been able to get away with once a day. I've got mine under 600mh right now, temps about 74-78. Usually the og 18 is a light feeder. They are fierce this go round. Not sure if the hempy is the cause because in coco it's a bit less

WOW, the girls are starting to really go through feedings now.. I mixed nutes last night in anticipation of watering today, and when I tipped them over, not one drop of water came out,, So I am now up to feeding every other day.

Tent Girls all got the same feed as last time.. Did not UP the strength this time, maybe next time,, But they all look nice and healthy.

Auto is looking a bit haggered on top. I have been having some heat issues, so I pulled out the Portable air conditioner yesterday and got it cooling the room down. She is Clawing at the top only, which is a sure sign of over Nuteing, but yet, not one Yellow Leaf Tip or burn mark on her. She is also definitely showing signs of heat stress, but its even more odd, that the only signs of ANY stress it at the top 1/4 of the plant.. The rest of the plant looks nice and healthy,, Which you can see by the pictures below. So instead of feeding today, I gave her a whole gallon of Plain RO (PH) water, and flushed her out real good. It was interesting to see the Clean Water come out tinted from the left over nutrients.. Flushing perlite is sure better/easier than flushing soil

The new clones are still working out whether they want to live or not,, Right now it looks like I might get about 50% to make it, but we still have a few days, so we will see.

Newly transplanted clones are also doing fine,, not much to report on that front,, I am just watering them a little every day.

Hey Rusty, I hope the top bounces back !! Speaking of bouncing back, my test DWC/Hempy plant is bouncing back from the root infection. It was bad too. The sodium hypochlorite is killing whatever was rotting them without killing the plant. I can see new roots forming above the rotted part and the rotted part is clearing up. I can hardly believe it. CHeers.

Its always nice to hear when someone gets a handle on their problem. How much of the Hypochlorite are you using, and do you think you will have to continue using it throughout that ones life?

The last few days I have been watering it using no nutes with 7 drops of bleach per gallon. It shows 4 PPM on a HTH pool test kit. For the record it also raises the pH of the water. Tonight if it is still looking better, I may mix in some nutes. I will have to compensate for the raise in pH.

I am thinking that any plants grown in this manner will always need some form of chlorine in the mix as a precaution. I plan on stepping it down though as soon as I am sure this pathogen has been knocked back. I have read that root hairs can safely tolerate a solution with a 0.5 PPM of chlorine. I also read that 2 PPM is strong enough to kill most water born pathogens if you have a problem. The 4 PPM that I have been using has turned the rotten black crap to a light brown. It happened so fast and was so bad, I can hardly believe it is still alive.

I think that the 2 PPM I am running on the "test clones" is stunting their growth. I will keep you posted....

Another Feed Day

I kept the strength the same at this point cause they just don't seem like they are begging for more, so maybe I will go up a little on the next feed.
2.5ml PH UP | 5ml CalMag Plus | 6ml FloraMicro | 12ml FloraBloom
PH = 6.05
PPM = 940 (.5)

Temps have been hovering at 80-83 degrees, so its been a little warm. Humidity is a little higher than I would like it to be, but not outrageous.

Both the Northern Lights x Big Bud Girls have popped pre-flowers either late yesterday or this morning.

Having an Issue with GIMP (NSxBB #2).. Its the same plant that showed Mottled Discoloration back on 7/17 when I posted the pic of her issue in this journal. She continues to show a strange discoloration on some of her leaves. I pulled her out of the tent to get a couple better pics. I also went ahead and posted this in the Plant Problems Category to see if anyone might have a suggestion.

They all continue to grow Very Well and their tops are starting to get some legs on them.

Transplanted Clones are just Hangin while we wait for roots to hit the res

New Clones are a mixed bag at this point. It seems the smaller the stems were on the Newly Taken clones, the better they have done. All of the smaller Clones that are maybe an Inch or Two tall, are standing at attention,, The taller ones are still trying to pick their heads up, but I am surprised to say that none of the clones look like they are on their way out the door just yet. So I will just continue to do what I am doing and see how they go.

Just wanted to take a minute and note this in my Journal::

Fruity Chronic Juice has Popped Pre-Flowers!!
Cool !! Glad to hear it Rusty.

I had the opposite luck.
Last night I noticed that 16 of my girls were making sacks. They were looking so nice too.
These came from a early red bud female that I reveged and turned into a bonsai mom a few months back. It was so compact, early and flowering like crazy. I can't believe it has turned male on me. I have never seen anything like this. I am soooo pissed. I had more in the veg room and several more clones....all in the trash now. This really set me back. The worst part is that the last go around I planted all of them that I had left and did not pull a clone off of her sisters which were so sticky and full of long red hair. This was like the Colombian Red Bud that I grew up on only better. Now it will be no more. I have between 3-4 oz left and that will be it.

This along with my clone experiments has really set me back and taught me a lesson.

I took the last 1/3 of my table yesterday and I am thinking my numbers will be really good. I just wish I had more ready to put on it. The other good news is that my 7 newest PPP moms are putting off clones now so I will be back with a vengeance.

Man that is God Damn Heart Breaking!!! And also interesting you mention it,, I am seeing some odd,, Possibly ball growth on one of the NLxBB girls, and starting to freak out a little. All I can do at this point is wait until they get a little bigger to know for sure what I am looking at, but I am not seeing this on the other two plants. Considering they are All Fems and have been in the same environment their entire lives, and look great, its a little perplexing..

Well, I think I might have a Hermie,,

20120803_145457.jpg20120803_150247.jpg20120803_145451.jpg20120803_145325.jpg20120803_133546.jpg20120803_150416.jpg20120803_150258.jpg

Unfortunately I just could not get a good up close picture,, They kept blurring out, so my pics suck and dont really show any detail.

Tomorrow is water day, so I will decide whether or not to chuck her then..

I am not seeing any of this growth on the other two plants. What a BUMMER!!

I was just looking at seeds online. Maybe if I spend a few $ I will feel better. Get some new blood in here....Damn they are still out of Godbud. I sent them a message asking when they will have some. I may try some Sweet Tooth.

Rusty, keep an eye on them but I've seen several strains that show swollen calyx but don't change teams and probably weren't even thinking about it. This one scared me but it was a false alarm.

Swollen Calax.jpg

Sorry to hear about your loss Gyro, but there must be something in the air. 2 days ago, two of the beanstalks I have finally showed sex, after 56 days 12/12, one girl and one BOY. I chopped off everything except for one branch I could seal and I'm gonna try to catch its pollen without dusting the rest I'll get you a photo of the condom. I may have to throw out the girl, because I don't know if I can let her finish. My guess to finish this crazy sativa would be the beginning of Nov.

Thanks Watts, but these are looking suspiciously like a tiny round pod on a tiny stem, and not like the Calyxes we all love. Tomorrows a water day, so I will keep an eye on it, that's all I can really do, and hope for the best. Considering these are the Nicest plants I have grown to date, Not too Big, Not too Small, No Purple Stems, Stalks nice and Thick, Full Lush Growth, its gonna be a major bummer if I have to give her up.

I will certainly take pics of the Root Zone and whatnot for Informational purposes, should the worst happen.

I have heard some nice things about that Sweet Tooth.. Who are you gonna order from?

I might go ahead and pop an Acapulco Gold seed if this one plant flips on me.

This may be one of those great ideas that is just wrong:

Condom on for only a few hrs and really sweating inside, it is the only branch left on the plant.Could be a mold factory by morning
