My First Time DWC Journey **PICTURES**

Oh yeah! Are you running CO2? I've been filling up a pump up garden sprayer with soda water having seen a couple videos on line where this was given as an alternative to the whole C02 bottle and solenoid rig which wouldn't work for me since my grow area isn't sealed.

i want to convert my whole setup to dwc but being that this is my first experience with DWC it went way too well for me to change my whole setup. I want to experience any problems with it first if there is any so that if i convert my whole setup and things fuck up i would know what to do. Kinda like im testing out the water before jumping into the pool.

For the thing your talking about its real simple theres a tutorial on this website somewhere that shows you how to make a control resorvior. That is my plan if i was to convert my whole setup to dwc to use a control but like i said i want to make sure i know what im getting into first before i invest.

Yes i use co2, i use a co2 generator with a co2 controller by green air. I only use it for flowering using it for veg is a waste of co2. My co2 ppm starts at 1300ppm-1600ppm at peak flowering then i gradually decrease it to 1000ppm.

maybe consider adding a toilet pump kit to your reservoir somehow with a nute tank and that would automatically fill your reservoir....... it would make your op more self sufficient and self operating for easier use and less frikin hydro maintanace.:hump: I love dwc man.... but i hate all the constant watching you have to keep your fluid levels

actually GH sells that float thing your talking about for i think 15 bucks. all u need is that, and another res that is higher elevated then that res and let gravity work.

I'm thinking I'll cob something together and put a few clones into DWC this next time. It seems like the yields go up considerably over the ebb/flow but I agree with your caution about throwing into DWC whole hog. From what I'm reading the plants can suck up a lot of water in a short time toward the end of flowering, when a crop failure would be the most heartbreaking. If you or anyone can put me on to that tutorial on the reservoir that would be sweet. I'm sure I could figure it out but I hate having to re-invent the wheel. I'd think there has to be a way to have the level self regulate with fresh water coming in without additioinal nutes for a week or so but also a way to flush and refill every week to ten days. Having the nutes at the right level on the refill would seem to require pre-mixing everything in a seperate container that's big enough to refill the entire system in one big input. My worry is if I'm wanting to inter-connect six or so buckets that would have to be one big ass container! Anyway, this too shall be figured out.

with the control res it makes it alot easier. I dont like to flush out my system and add in fresh nutes its a waste of time to me, i like to check the readings and read my plant to see what they uptake and then i'll add whatever it is that they need and next day check them again if i see some sort of burn i'll lower a few things. So i only flush at the end of flowering cycle or when things really look bad and i need to flush(love 3 part nutes).

Check that out! i found it for u.

But for the problem you was talking about refilling your whole setup its simple, you'll be having a controller that is elevated high enough for gravity to pull the water down to the floater. If that controller isn't big enough for your whole setup(say you have 10 5 gal thats about 45gal u need) like its only 30 gal then you can buy one of those huge ass tubberware that holds 50 gal mix your nute in there and have everything in there pump up to the controller. Done and just let the water flow.

Thanks, Waffles.

Guess I'm just used to the ebb/flow reservoir where you dump the whole tank every 10 days to two weeks. I guess I can try your concept of leaving everything alone for the whole cycle and keeping an eye on it. I'll probably keep my ppm low for my nutes this first time around just to be sure I don't fry anything. And thanks for finding the tutorial. I'll check that out. I've done some plumbing work in the past so I should be able to handle this. If it works out I'll post some pics around here somewhere.

i really like your setup man. if you dont mind could you tell me how u did it. i would like to make my own version of yours. im a nebie and i am starting out with this and i dont wanna have to drop a ton of cash when i could build one for cheaper. and if i clone a female plant will that clone be female?

thanks

Yes i can help you my whole setup cost me only probably 80-90 bucks thats without lighting tho. so that gave me two 6 plant site dwc system.

All u need is :

30gal tubberware from walmart w/lid 12-13$
30/60 air pump 20$
2 air stone 6inch 2$each
probably 4 ft of air tubes probably 2$
6 6inch netpot 2$

then you put all those together and you got yourself a very effective dwc system. I would take some pictures for you but i can disturb my plant right now its almost done i think next wk i'll chop chop then i'll post some pictures maybe even do a DIY.

any clone coming from a plant will have the same exact attributes as long as they are raised in a a similar environment. meaning that they will have the same dna, chromosomes and etc....exactly the same unless u fuck it up somehow. (which is pretty hard)
but for short answer.... yes it will be female.

so i put the liquid in the container and i have to keep the water level how high?? just high enough to touch or cover the roots?

if there are no roots coming out of your netpot yet or you just transplanted you need to have the water level high enough to cover about 1 inch from the bottom of the netpot the gradually decrease it as the root starts to produce.

Hey, sorry i haven't updated this thread kinda died out.

Well quick update i had mold problem because there was a slight water leak and i guess that caused my mold problem so i had to chop shop early.

The SOG one i choped early because i detected a slight mold problem so i didn't know if i fix the humidity problem it will go away or it will keep eating up my bud so i chop it.

The bush difinitely yielded more for me but there was alot more work. I used 1000k watt lighting and i chop shop about 2 1/2 week way too early and my yield was estimated at 1.30lb(1lb and 9oz) for the bushy and a lil bit under a lb(i was missing 2oz and 12g to make a lb)for the soged.

if u got some questions to ask just holla.

sorry to here about the mold,so you had a thousand over each tub, thats pretty impressive weight if its dried weight for cutting early, but the mold scares me ive read alot of horror stories about hydro, but ive heard alot of great stuff as well,it comes down to being problem free.so have you made changes to clean up the problem,or do you know the source of it.
