My Lil Closet Grow

Look into a 'can fan combo' at your local grow shop.

The hole in my closet is up high, and leads to another closet. I drilled some holes in the bottom of my door to allow for adequate air intake.

As for what it's going to cost, I'd say that's up to you. I'd personally buy an air cooled reflector and a can fan combo. That can run anywhere from a couple hundred bucks up to $$$$$.

This is not the only way, it's just a good way. I'm personally also new to the indoor game, so I wouldn't feel right making specific recommendations on kit just yet. The stuff I have works well, but in truth, I have nothing to compare it to. Have a look at my journal. The space I'm using is smaller than yours, but I'm running 600W and my temp's 75-80 in the space with the lights on.

Hey D0z3r, how do you like those water farms? Would you recommend them? Or are they sub par? I have had my eye on those for while now, and really wanna try them, but I am looking at the 8 bucket system. But 275 is a pretty penny to waste, so insight please. Any experience with grow tents? Thinking of investing in one of those as well. And feedback would be great.

I'm going to have to reserve judgment on it until I've worked with another hydro system. It's producing great results so far. That much is undeniable. I've got some complaints, but I'm not sure if they're due to the system, or due to my inexperience and the complexity of using hydroponics in a 1.5x4 space. Have a look at my plants at one month and see if you think they're coming along.

I'll check into the can fan and all that good stuff. Thanks for the info. I think that set up would for perfect for my closet. I have done tons of reading, I just wanted to hear it from someone else. But I can manage to set that up, I will probably get it goin this week or weekend. Any idea on how long that should take me? Any good ideas on where I can find those items you mentioned cheap? Ebay has been pretty good to me, I'll try there and do some searching. Thanks again, and I'll post more pics when I get batteries for the cam, may have some here at the house. And do you think the leaks in the closet door will be enough for passive intake?

Nice set up Zeke! girls are looking good! I'm subscribed. I have a closet grow going on 7 weeks of flower with cfls. I'm debating on a 400 wat hps to flower with, and use the cfls for veg. Working on my filter, tryed the aquarium carbon but my fan wouldnt push air thru it. So I bought a replacement carbon sheet at menards for a air filter unit. So I'm eager to get it in and see how it works. Link to my journal at the bottom, stop in and cheack it out!
:peace:peace man:peace:

Just a bunch of shots of the set up and veg shelf. Everything is goin good so far, I cant complain. Let me know what I should do about those two plants in one pot. Are they going to need transplanting to their own pots or can I keep them togetha and bend or tie them down. I have named them the twins, and dont wanna split them up. lol. Well let me know what you folks think. I know how you love the pictures so here is a bunch. Enjoy.

OH, and any ideas for that open floor plan pic of the room???? It's wide open space and I would hate to let it grow to waste. lol. Only problem that window faces the street.

Thanks rope. I will check your journal and steal some ideas. lol. I'll keep the pics coming. Chuuuurch!

Hey Zeke,

You didnt say you had a window in the space!

That makes things a lot easier. Make a window box for your exhaust fan, and you're all set on the heat problem mate!

Temp = (BTUs in)-(BTUs out)
increase the BTUs out by exhausting to the outside(still use a can fan combo for smell, the window box will block the light) and you will be enjoying cooler temperatures in no time. Also, do you have an oscillating fan in there? If not get one. Any old cheap one will do. The idea is to have something shaking your plants gently all day long. I took that advice from a grower friend of mine. My girls are one month old, and have a stem as big around as a quarter. I don't think they'll be falling down when they start producing big monster purple buds.

D0z3r

Nice, well that sounds all good. But I am growing in the closet which is on the opposite side of the room. Are you saying run ducting across the room to exhaust or intake? Any good links on how to build a window box, and should it cover the whole window?

I have these two holes, one in each of my closet doors. The holes are about 1 1/2 inches across. Do they have or make fans that would fit that hole. In order to use as a passive intake and exhaust system. Crack being intake, fan in hole being exhaust?????

Hey folks, hows memorial day treatin ya? Hope your all eatin good and smoking good. Just giving a lil update on my girls progress growing as expected, I'd say a few inches in the last few days or so. Everything is looking good, just one of my girls got a lil burned on one of her limbs. I have been flushing her daily with water. I think it was the foliar spray I was using. I think she wasnt ready cuz she was the runt of the bunch. She is pickin right up now, just waiting for the leaf burn or discoloring to fade away. But otherwise I have been takin them outside to get some natural light. Seem to be enjoying the breeze and sunshine. I'll post some pics a lil later this afternoon.

Just a few updated pics today. I think it's been a couple days since I posted last. Anyway, the biggest is like 6 or 7 wks old, the other four will be 3 wks tomorrow. And the smallest one is just about a week old and today was her first day unda da HPS. Let me know what you guys think. How are the girls lookin for their ages? Any suggestions, questions, or comments are all welcome.

Looking great. You might want to try and get everyone their own pot. Those roots are going to grow together and you'll never be able to separate them, but they are looking healthy otherwise.

I agree totally picasso, what would you suggest? Transplanting is my weak point. Think I should do that asap? And I am a bit apprehensive to re pot. Dont wanna hurt the babies, ya know. I guess, I'll get some balls and do it. I'll check the FAQ or the newbie section on transplanting. Thanks buddy, appreciate the advise. Keep it coming folks, I want you to be a part of this with me. Lol.

Just some updated pics. I transplanted the two plants that were in one pot today. I gave them their own pots. I think they are gonna love it. However, I did break a few roots during transplanting. Do you folks think that will cause me much problems?
