My New Obsession ;-)

Hey!
So this is my first time EVER growing.. and it's seriously becoming my obsession.. I think to myself everyday.. "Why didn't I start this sooner?" But is that because im broke and have no smoke (lol) Or because I really love it? (It's both..lol) Luckily my boyfriends brother is a med. grower in Humbolt, CA. So I get a lot of tips and info from him..

ANYWHO!
Right now I only have 3 plants going.. My oldest I named Buddy (a little reverse psychology..give it a male name and hopefully it's a female! lol) It's first sprout was 11/26, so it's 10 days old.. Right now I'm just going to post pics of him/her since the other 2 are pretty much the same (just a day or 2 behind) also I planted all three by seed...

I just transplanted Buddy yesterday, he seemed to be "stretching" alot so I put him in a new container and covered up some of the stem (about an inch or so) It's pretty cold in my house, my house is very drafty and chilly (all the time!) so i have a small heater in the closet and it has a temp gauge and I just run it on as low as possible for a few mins a few times a day.. to keep it a little warmer..

Right now Im just using a 300W CFL (3900 lumens) that has it's own ballast and I also purchased a metal clamp lamp I stuck the HUGE ass bulb in, and I pretty much keep it as close as possible to all 3 plants right now.. I do plan on getting some more lights here soon, not 100% sure what yet.. so if you have any suggestions for something to go along w/ my CFL lemmie know! (I have been reading and "researching" alot so I know SOME stuff)

Also I made a completely foiled 2x2 box (no top, should I have one?) that sits in my closet (posted a pic) It's a little ghetto so don't make fun of me.. Im a chick, so I'm suprised how handy I am

Anywho, PLEASE anyone who has something to say feel free to let me know, I still feel a little dumb throughout this because of it being my first time ever, so comments will be much appreciated! Hope you enjoy thus far! and if you have any questions about my grow is cool too

alright here we go mama... first we dont know much about your set up how far is you big ass cfl... should be an inch or 2 depending on you fans.. if you want more light add more cfls 100w and 150w at walmart. you can yeild like an ounce or even 2 if you get a good system down. alot of ppl are only goin to tell you to get HID lights like it'll make you a better gardener. get good with cfls then move up is what i think. my 2 week old has 2 150w and 2 100w to herself so your lights are pretty sufficient for now. you should top while its short, especially with cfl growing then you can move you lights to better penetrate foliage. i'll keep an eye on you and give any advice i can but you gotta give me some details. -1 LOVE

How many gallon are you pots?
Whats your soil?
What kind of seeds are those?
Whats the temp in your grow room? between 68-85f is fine it doesn't have to b "perfect"
alot of ppl try to push perfect enviroment. its a weed it needs a little stress

okay, sorry for the little info.... but thanks for getting back!
size of container is 3.5 gallons
my soil is a ph balanced soil w/ some perlite (not alot) it's called Natures Way (I got it from Lowes) looks like theres also a small ammount of bark dust like things in it.. (I asked the b/f's brother before I bought it if it was okay.. he said it was, and to just not buy miracle grow shit) I hope that's what you wanted to know there
my seeds were from Humbolt they're from my b/f's brother (who grows medically) from his crop of Purple Nurple (he gave me like a bag of them)
and the temperature of the room is about 68-70 deg. normally... (so should I not put the heat in there anymore?)
and the light is about 1.5 inches from the plants.. I have the 3 of them huddled together at the moment and the light boomin in on the center..
also normally my fan is blowing constantly (not on them, just around) but it stopped working yesterday, and Im having a hard time finding a small fan like it so I'm going shopping this evening to find one (none at walmart, dollar store, or target... they're all out of season out here)
I hoped that answered all those questions.. again thanks for lookin at my Journal and giving your input.. I appreciate it.. I really do want my babies to be the best I can get em'!

Just watch the temp... you really dont want it to get into the 60's to much
it slows them down

i mean dont get me wrong, i had icicles hanging from my plants like 2 days ago...

Hey Guys!

So it's day 18, and things are looking pretty good to me!
I think my only complaint (and it's not really a complaint) is they're a little shorter than I thought, but they're MUCH fuller than I thought. So I'm sure height will come in time.
My main plant is the one the pics are of, It's only about 6/7 inches tall, but as you can see in the pics.. Theres some massive leafs going on!

Im Hoping I can start flowering by the end of Jan. but we'll see how it goes!

Not much has changed in my grow room.. I've got them on 18/6..
I wake them up in the morning with a nice misty spray and they do their thing. I haven't got the 400watt HID light yet from the brother, but were still working on that... If I don't get that by the end of Dec. I'm going to buy another 300watt CFL like the one I have, Because it's getting bushier than I thought!

Im not pruning or anything yet. Im just letting them go as they are.. They're starting to get some what of a stink, it's like a musty pot smell.. but to me smells yummy! lol

Anywho this was just more of a pic update.. Let me know if you have any suggestions or anything! Thanks for looking!

just keep in mind that when you enter flowering, your plant will double to tripple in size...
so it will all catch up
looks amazing ive seen some real growth inthe pics...

they will grow nice and big remember the daylight are for vegging and the soft white cfl are for flowering.. you can use both all the time no worries but youll need more soft white when you go 12 hrs light on 12 hrs lights off... keep on a regular watering schedule dont let it get to dry use your finger an inch into the soil to check for dampness. you can get pretty far with cfl but the more the better.. three full grown plants takes 10 or more cfl. I use shop lights t12 to get more lumans per sq. ft. great start keep going!!

damn girl, your grow looks real good. and i know what you mean about loving this shit, ive been doing it on and off for quite a few yrs and if i could i would grow shitloads just because i enjoy doing it. and your boyfriends brother is a top notch dude if he hooks you up like that!

Thank-you! Yeah it's totally (as my Journal name) My new obsession... I dont think people could trully understand how exciting it is, unless they're a pot head themselves..lol And my b/f's brother is an awesome dude, he's seriously helped me out a lot.. I'll be standing at Lowes, like WTF do I get? and call him up and he knows it all! And the light deal is pretty awesome too, Im just a little nervous about using it.. because I'm learning on these CFL's... But I'm deffinatly digging the more buds part of it

What do you think, if it's about 7/8 inches now...should I wait until it gets about 18 inches (As they say to) to flower? Or what are your thoughts of me flowering in a couple weeks, regardless if they reach 18inches? It's getting pretty full in between the growth, I can't even keep up anymore with how many new sprouts are there...
OR, do you think I should just wait until my original plan of the week of Jan. 18th - 24th?

Honestly (and don't make fun of me..lol) I didn't know there was a difference between daylight and soft white... So I looked at the box my bulb came in and it's Soft White! I had no clue.. BUT it's 300w (3900 lumens) and it's a pretty huge bulb, the whole thing covers the 3 plants perfectly (well, right now it is.. but Im sure as it grows it wont) So what I am PLANNING, is getting another one just like it... because I dont think Im going to get the 400watt HID until mid January now (shipping issues, i guess..) which is when I want to start flowering. So I may just use it for my next grow and compare the differences, and just use the CFL's for either my male/s (because yes, Im keeping it if it's male and making butter and shit.. and putting them in a seperate closet, if any are males... which of course Im hoping not...lol) So what are your thoughts having 2 300w "Soft White" CFL's throughout the rest of my veg and throughout my flower?

New Pics!

So it's day 31 and day 3 of flowering...

Ok, so I ended up getting another 300Watt "daylight" CFL, just like my other one on Xmas Eve and started flowering.. I've seen alot of growing in the last few days alone... It's pretty awesome..
I'm posting some pics of my other plant, it just shot up in growth and actually surpassed my main plant.. It's about 16 inches tall.. When my main plant at the moment is about 13...
And I actually have a group shot of the 3 of them in there also.. My 3rd plant which you'll see has had some issues.. but it's looked pretty healthy and it's starting to grow alot more...
Of course there's no evidence of what sex any of them are yet.. I'm sure it's still too soon..
I have done some trimming... mainly because of room and light, I wanted to make sure all the new growth was getting attention.. and it was all the leaves that didn't have anything else really growing on them, they were towards the bottom and getting rather large.. so they had to go...
I also started nuts a few weeks back, which I didn't say before... It's some mix that my b/f's bro sent me... and we can't remember what he said it was (effin' stoners..lol) -but it seems to be working well, no burns or anything... I use it probably every other day to every few days sometimes...
Other than that, they look rather healthy and GREEN! the lights actually make them look lighter, but they're a pretty dark "danky" green color.. it's pretty

So I'll try and keep posted from this point on, I'm pretty excited to see how it all goes...

Let me know if you think otherwise, but I'm almost positive... I started getting antsy because I wasn't seeing anything on any of them.. It's day 10 of the flowering process for me.. And I still have 2 other plants with unknown sex.. I wanna say the other is a female too, but I may be jumping the gun.. Hopefully by tomorrow I will know for sure!

Well I lucked out, because 3 out of my only 3 ever.. Are girls! Which of course makes me happy... Not much else to report except new flowering pics & good news!

Also I think it's kinda funny, but we keep them in a back room, but whenever you open the door you get a nice whiff throughout the room.. So my cats like LOVE going in there.. but they instantly fall asleep for like 12 hours, no lie... it's the sleepy chamber lol

anyways enjoy the pics.. things are doing great!

I can't wait ! So at this point all 3 of my plants are about 2ft or taller.. and all are confirmed beautiful females

I'm just hoping by my birthday on the 2nd (big 25!!) we may have something, BUT I have a feeling it may be the week after or 2.. So we'll see!

I counted about 16 different buds all over my one plant.. Which we are pretty sure is OG Kush now, and the other 2 are Purple Urkel.. They were seeds from my brother in-law and he agrees, so YAY!!! that's pretty awesome to me...

I watched this video of someone giving tips on harvesting and he says to not Nute for 3 weeks before (rather than the 10 the recommend) and it even gives the buds a better taste... I'm kinda at that point right now and I'm wondering what I should do... Does anyone have any experience with the 3 weeks no nutes? compared to the 10 days? If so I would love to hear your input...

but btw...

I just finished smoking off some Maui Wowi.. and YUMMMY.. that stuff is fantastic.. I think it has become one of my top 5
