I am about to start growing hydro for the first time what straind should i use, i have about 13 diffrent brands 3 or which have no names. which schould i start out w/? Skunk Red Hair, Auraura Indica, Skunk#1, White Rhino femanized, White Widow, Purple Haze femanized, Ice, Cyrstal, Shiva Skunk
I've absolutely no idea... why not ask someone who's grown using hydro? This is my first ever grow using soil and my first choice was shiva seeds... i may try others later but for now it seemed to fit my conditions perfectly. I would advise reading up on what seeds suit the conditions you're growing in, other than that I can't advise you on something I know nothing about... sorry!

Just read through your adventure man. I love this journal, you had some troubles at first, but perservered and it's looks like you got some real nice buds in the end. Fair play to ya!

Look forward to more pics.

I'm just starting my first grow using an envirolite, so I found yours very interesting. Cheers mate.

Cheers man. That was quite possibly the best compliment i've received. I really do appreciate it. I did give them lots of love and care so i'm glad it paid off. Best of luck with yours my friend.

Hi Roor. Hi mate... if you imagine one of those bathroom extractor fans on your bathroom ceiling and it's drawing the condensation out of your bathroom probably through a duct to the outside of your house or into your loft or something, well mate, all you have to do is cut a hole in your growroom door the same size as the fan, and simply push the fan into that size hole but literally flip it 180° so it's fitted on technically back to front so it still works as an extractor but instead of suckin bad condensation out of your bathroom it will be suckin fresh air into your growroom! Just screw it on, then wire it up, attach a duct and if poss get the duct to suck in fresh air from outside... hope this makes some sense! If not, let me know and I'll post a pic!

p.s. I positioned it low enough so initially it sucked fresh air onto the new seedlings stems... as they got bigger and thicker it just served to circulate fresh air through the space and push bad air out the vent at the top - hope this helps - if still confused ill send you a pic
yeah could you post some pics. you said cut a hole in your growroom door. What if i just what to put the growroom in a regular room no special door set aside for the grow room just the door that leads into the room and just the plants in the corner, would i put a hole in the wall then or what?

I did mine like this because it suited my purpose. I needed to grow mine outdoors in my garage so it made sense for me to build a small growroom that was self contained, with lighting venting etc all built in which is why I adopted this method of installing the extractor so it could 'through a duct' suck fresh air into the room from outside.

If you are literally growing your plants in a corner of a main room I don't see why you couldnt produce a successful grow by having normal fans blowing and circulating air over your plants constantly. I would suggest you try just using normal fans mate. It seems to me there are plenty of people on this site that have grown successfully like this.

The only benefit of mine is that it's sucking in fresh air from outside rather than circulating stale air.

wow man... i read your epic, and am completely and thoroughly impressed...
seriously wow

I just planted two germinated seeds each in two small pots. my grow "room" is an 3 foot high cardboard box with an open... they're under the light already and i'm hoping that they'll grow...

I only have a small cfl, but i lined the box in aluminum foil to try to maximize the ammount of light reflected onto my hopeful plants

do you think i stand a chance?

Cheers man, thanks for your kind words. First, anything is possible so be positive about it and don't be afraid to keep modifying and improving your grow room... a few things i would advise are:

1. make sure you get at least one fan circulating air on your stems, makes them nice and strong.

2. get into a good watering routine and invest in a moisture meter and ph tester.

3. check moisture levels and ph levels regularly... I did this every morning of every single day of the grow.

4. the aluminium foil... not sure... i know mylar is better if you can get hold of it, but you need to be careful with foil as if it gets too creased it can reflect light incorrectly. I opted for white wood as it's very reflective. Up to you though.

5. remain positive at all times!!!!

Thanks again buddy!

thanks man will do. i have the fan i took out of an old humidifier in there and it circulates air well, but i'm concerned about my temperature. with the light it falls around 72-74 degrees F, but i think i may have to try to heat things up a bit just to be on the safe side. what do you think? i've heard 85 was optimum.

(p.s. what do you guys in the UK use, Farenheit or Celcius, for i am merely a poor uneducated american on the east coast...)

oh and would it be possible or wise to try budding at 12-14 inches, for you see space is a serious issue for me
