i saw a piece of Pyrex on C/L that was the diameter of a cool tube. these tubes were 8ft long. i didn't have the loot. could have cut 4 cool tubes from it. *sigh*

i figured it might cost the same making one cuz pyrex glass is too damn expensive here! i think ima order online in the future.. what shop do u use for these kinda stuffs?

btw bro what size wing reflector would you recommend for a 4Lx4wx8h room? ima use this until i get a cooltube

i would love to make one but pyrex is too expensive here:cry: and pyrex tubes are hard to find here.. even retail airducts and most of the important stuff i need lol:wall:

i buy my stuff from htgsupply.com if you are going to order from them first email them and ask if they can give you a deal on it and they most likely will cut off 10-15% off. they always do for me. i'd get the cheapest reflector i could till i got the cool tube. you've got the walls lined or painted white, right?

yeah cheap cfls for seedling will work. as far as carbon filter goes what size is your exhaust cfm and what brand and type of fan is it?

yea but in a small grow area i.e. like mine 4 plants max i can get within 10" of the tops of the plants when my bulb fan is engauged so the loomens coming of my bulb are getting used more efficiantly, oh yes juts that reminds me not all bulbs produce the same output of loomens this is heavily reliant of the design of the bulb i run Supermaster HPS delux initially it produces 55.000 loomens around 10,000 more than the standard buld that came with my kit and is a very efficiant bulb also with a reflector you should have more than adaquate lighting as anything over 2,500 is substantial for one plant although i imagine results of that would be poor lol

thanks for the tip! yup i painted em white until i decided to put reflective material (not mylar, can't find one) il post pics along with my grow log but not until i finish the whole setup lol

thanks! i got the 55k hps now i gotta find some cfls for seedlings/clones btw.. can i use the hps for seedlings? would save me some $$$ to buy an mh in the future if i already have the $$$

600w is about perfect for the area he's growing in. It's also not necessarily a linear 50% more electricity (600w's are the most efficient of the HID's in terms of lumens/energy/heat).

-how many watts do i need for seedlings to pre veg? are 4 65w cfls more efficient than 2 125w?

-the exhaust fans are just the $15 cheapo ones 355cfm but i got them from our toolshed for free :hump: im gona use a diy carbon filter when i switch to 12/12 or until they stink and until i can afford a can-fan combo lol (im gona use screen trash bins for the exterior and window screens on the interior to increase airflow compared to stockings, i dont wanna mess around with stockings and a burning ceiling hehe - is this ok?)

btw im using 'silver metallic cellophane like material' as a replacement for mylar is this ok to use? these are the ones they use in giftwrapping and brickshit shwag by the ton lol, anyways issit ok to put this on the base of the room underneath a clear pvc sheet and also covering the pots with it?
searched it on the net saw a post sayin its a kind of mylar? wth? are there different kinds of mylar? ima go wiki mylar now lol

i agree with everyone about using 600w instead of 400w. i have the same grow area as u do and while the 400 worked the 600 did MUCH better. i can get the results i want vegging in 4 weeks with the 600 compared to 6 weeks with the 400. and if u buy it on ebay u can get it alot cheaper than buying a 400w from any growing store or even htgsupply. u can find the ballast reflector and bulb all for around $100-200 with free shipping.
