Okay matey,

Watts=voltsxamps
W=vI

Say you're in the UK:

v=230volts (Not sure for USA, I think they're on 110V?)

Most household circuits breakers flick at 15-50 amps depending on what they're designed to accommodate, Ovens etc. are on a separate circuit for safety that can take more current(something we as growers should replicate in our grow room designs) .

Say a single socket circuit in your has a breaker that breaks at 20A. By rule of thumb you shouldn't load these more than 80% for a long period because of fire risks.

I=20A

W(total)=230*((20/100)*80)
W(total)=230*16
=3680w (UK)
=1760w (US)

So on a single domestic circuit you can get away with 3680W in the UK. I'm no electrician so don't take this as fact.

Also Keep in mind though you will probably already have loaded the one you're using with other appliances. Know what circuits go where.

If I were you, I'd pay a qualified electrician to install a fresh circuit to my grow room with a high amperage breaker. Say up to 50A.

That way I'd be sure it wasn't going to overload or cause fire and another advantage is:

Say my fan is on a separate breaker that overloads and my fan turns off. I'm out all day so my lamps cook my room. Not good for anyone. If I had them wired in my breaker at least the lamps would shut off too.

If you have 40 plants and 2 100w lights an obvious eco-friendly solution is investing in 2 linear light rails. These can move your lights back and forth over up to 2 metres. The fact that they're moving also allow you to get them closer to your tops. The best thing; they use <10W of power so cost approx. £2-5 to run a year!

Sorry bruv, I'm on my way out but why not add some co2 to the sitch and you may get double that per plant.

Good luck dude. I'm looking to set up a 40-50 plant room soon with Co2. Maybe you could show some pics of yours. Let me know how it works out.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
The 2 1000 watt lights are enough for that setup.You d be better off getting rid of the 1000 watters and getting either more 400 watt lights or 600 watt lights and doing 2 per 8x4 foot table.Add a co2 injection or generator to double yeilds and if you use something like sweet leaf or carboload its a sugar carb that will swell buds up to another 20%.Im doing aero now and have the 1000 watt lights but am ditching them for 400s.You can run 2 for less cost and cover more area without need for exspensive movers. Heat goes down and if you run 2 or more 1000 watt lights you can start to get electric companys attention in the bill unless you cut off the rest of the house and ac or furnace all day and live in the dark.Unless power is ummm self serve that is.I assume your ebb and flow ie flood and drain?
