ok so my new hydrofarm sunburst hood came today but the bulb that came with it was broken at the base!!! so i need a new bulb within 2 days (when the light needs to be turned on), but cant seem to find the right one. its a 150w hps bulb with an e39 base, straight cylinder tube.5147380516.jpg

however the only 150w hps bulbs with e39 base i can find is the bubble style bulb Philips-Lighting-PHIC150S55ALTO-25710.jpg

does the shape of the glass make a difference? will a shorter bulb affect the spreading of light?

also the replacement bulb the hood calls for is LU150/55/CP
none of the LU150/55 bulbs ive found have had the CP at the end, instead ive seen DX and SBY at the end or nothing at the end at all. sorry but my electrical knowledge at all is very limited and i dont know what any of these letters mean or if they make a difference, someone please shine a light on my situation :)

Another quick thing, i didn't realize this until i got the package today but the glass lens for this hood is apparently sold individually, its only like 20$ was just wondering if its worth it, heat isn't going to be an issue in my setup with or without it so i guess im really asking is there any other benefit to a hood lens other than keeping the heat trapped in the enclosure?

As long as you get the correct bulb base which is mogul sized then shape doesnt matter. Now bulb type does. The skinny bulb is usually a HPS for flower the fatter one is usually going to be a MH bulb for vegging. You can use either if need be for either grow time but if you only have one to use get the HPS bulb. A digital ballast will run both an older magnetic will run either MH or HPS or you have to by conversion bulbs for opposite of what ballast you got meaning if its an HPS magnetic ballast it runs normal hps bulbs but would need a MH conversion bulb to run the MH spectrum.

These are old magnetic type setups. If it had the skinny long bulb then you need a 150 watt hps bulb... If it came with the fat bulb then its an MH ballast so you need a 150 watt MH ie Metal Halide bulb.. Both should be found at local homedepot store by bulbs in a hurry need.

Some makers will have a kind of fat HPS bulb that looks kinda like an MH bulb just make sure its an HPS 150 watt bulb and your fine
