Need some powerful NUTES

Hey everyone,

This is my first round of indoor growing and I'm going organic. I'm using Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil mixed with some extra perlite.

The guy at my hydro store suggested I used Pure Vida nutrients for my grow but I don't feel its very strong.

Pure Vida GROW 6-4-3
That sounds pretty week to me..
Total Nitrogen............ 6%
6% Organic Nitrogen
Available Phosphate...3%
Soluble Potash...........3%
Magnesium.................0.5%
Boron.........................0.02%
Soluble Copper..........0.05%
Iron...........................0.1%
Manganese...............0.05%
Zinc...........................0.05%

Pure Vido BLOOM 2-6-6
Total Organic Nitrogen...2%
Available Phosphate......6%
Soluble Potash..............6%
Magnesium....................0.5%
Boron.............................0.02%
Soluble Copper..............0.05%
Iron...............................0.1%
Manganese...................0.05%
Zinc...............................0.05%

So thats what my nutrients provide and I'm pretty sure that I can give them more without burning them.

If you guys could please give me a hand and let me know what I can do to increase my nutrients. I'm thinking about getting some of Humboldts Nutrients for bloom cause I've been hearing some great things about those but let me know what you guys think. Thanks

The answer is simple. Use mycorrizhae and you will cut the nutritional req's of your plants by a lot. That is more than enough nutes if you use fungi in your grow.

Not to mention disease resistant, grow faster and healthier, transplant shock-resistant, etc.

Mycorrizhae, are the WAY to go for organic grows. They are as important as water IMO.

Those shops always push what they want, but as for me I went FF grow big in veg, and wow wonderful stuff. And then Fox Farm Big Bloom for Flower with some Molases and also I used cha ching beastie Bloomz and Open Seasame.
I would harvest 5-7 oz per plant.

I forgot to include this. Both are 1-part formulas. They can be combined together to make an "Aggressive Two-Part Formula for High Demand Crop Production" lol.

|Vegetative| per Gal/H20 (Soil)
GROW BLOOM
6 tsp 1.5tsp

|Flowering| per Gal/H20 (Soil)
GROW BLOOM
4 tsp 6tsp

Thanks for the input, but I'm looking for things I can add to what I already have. I don't want to go out and buy a new line of nutes except for the Humboldt products for flowering.

Thanks man, I didn't see your post before I said I was looking for additives.

Merahoon..... The OF Soil is top notch (but hot nute wise). Most people cut it at least 1/3, some by 1/2 using coco coir, sphagnum peat moss or Light Warrior. It's really well made, but a little too hot to start seeds in.
.
Subcool has a thread in his sub-forum where he talks about Super Soil. OF Soil is pretty much equal in effect to Super Soil. Give that thread a look. It's full of good info and will save some typing on my part. It gives tips on how not to nute burn your plants.
.
The Pure Vida numbers are fine, don't let the fancy advertising hype and the big numbers some ferts sport - draw you in. In all my years of growing - I've always said better to underfeed than overfeed. One is easily corrected the other is not......
.
Hope this helps....

Thank you, Ohsogreen. And Malignant, did you want me to find out information then tell you about it???? If thats the case, sorry, I'm not going to do someone else's research. If I grow with it, I'd be happy to tell you the results but I won't research a product for someone cause they don't want to. If thats not the case and you were just offering me good names to work with, thank you very much lol.

Merahoon.... No, not asking you to do research for me. The OF Soil is solid stuff - it must be cut (too hot). I make my own soil - but have assisted with grows using it. Burning young plants started in it - is common, happened to us - using it straight.
.
The Super Soil thread is well written and addresses using hot soils - regardless of who makes them - store bought or homemade. Here is a link to that thread -

.
Foxfarm is a solid fert line (used it with great results many times) - the key, start at 1/3 the recommended dose and slowly work upwards. Overlap your grow / bloom formulas a couple of weeks (both at lower doses) and your Mary will be fat & frosty.
.
I've never used the PV stuff - too pricey for me. So, I can't offer any help there.

No no no I wasn't meaning you. I was talking about the girl with the star tattoos. I was thanking you for your advice :) And.. what do you mean by overlapping?

Merahoon.... Oh, I see now & you are welcome.
.
Concerning the overlapping - I am just suggesting that when your plants show sex (preflowering) you still use a grow formula (but at a reduced strength) the first couple of weeks of flowering, along with a bloom formula (also at a reduced strength).
.
Some people, once flowering begins - drop all sources of Nitrogen and apply only bloom formulas. If you use the grow at 1/2 strength or under and the bloom at 1/2 strength or under - during that first two weeks of flowering it helps.
.
What it does specifically - is ensures you don't have your fan leaves yellowing and dropping off prematurely. Instead, by overlapping - you ensure the fan leaves stay green awhile longer and make more of a contribution to filling out your buds - before fading away (as nature intended).
.
Hope this helps...

Hmm I did not know that. Well thank you again for the info. So, I won't be doing half n half at all in veg though right? Just the first two weeks of flowering?

Yeah, only use the Grow during vegging.

Also, can you use nothing but BMO's line (Grow, Flower, & SPT) on a grow, with great results?
