i was just wondering cuz i got a fairly new 400w hps light it's pl lighting brand I can't find much anywhere on the internet about them. I found one website that had the same light i have an they want 358 dollars i got mine for a 50 dollar bong ha pretty nice light i think

Trust me, if I had a garage or an AC vent (english houses don't need AC really) would use it, but I don't. Next payday, gonna get a 5" cooltube and see how that works out. Might start the LR 2 soon though.

I use a 600w electric ballast MH/HPS and its air cooled and the fan i use 6" inline thats 400cfm and i can get the light literally .5" away without burning it at all. The only thing bad about a cool tubes are they arent nearly as efficiant with the light they put out. I think i read in a few different books and had buddys tell me that they they have a bad hot spot directly under the light and are the least effeciant spreading out the light.
But if thats your only option, then its better to have some light than none at all. Have you already got your grow area setup? If you can id get this reflective cloth like material ,not mylar, The stuff works great and gets the light spread around and cleans up easy and fairly easy to put up.

ya im really excited to use it I'm gonna buy a grow tent and 4 or 6 inch ducting with fans im not sure yet gotta get the tent I've never grown inside before only outside with my dad. We had 12 foot tall plants 3 years ago but anyway ya im stoked for growing inside

Not sure what I'm going to do about the seedlings because the 400W HPS will be too intense won't it? I don't have any other means of artificial light. Or if I just put the light right at the top of the tent until the second node?

Well everything is in and working like a charm. Even at 600W the temps hover around 23/24 C which is about 75 F. Some pictures:
Got a question though, I was donated this timer and have no idea how you're suppose to set it up. I figured You push the grey pegs in for the "dark" period but don't know what i'm suppose to do with the middle dial. If anyone can shed some light It'd be much appreciated.

the middle dial is the time now, you need to set it. right now it's on 3 am.
i would remove your ballast from inside the tent mate and your exhaust fan if poss.

looks good to me wowgrow. your ballast need to be outside, becouse that produses heat and your tent will heat more up with that in it, so yeh out side with the ballast,
temps are very good!!!
ok about the timer, on the timer can you see the arrow pointing towords the numbers, that is the where it tels you the time, so if its 1am in the morning right now point it to 1 if its 1in the day point it to 13 you get my point, and dose little tini fingers all around the timer that you can put down or up are the set timer, so if you want the light off from 12pm till 4pm simplely put the little fingers down between 12 and 18, so the infgers down are the time that the light is of and the fingers up are the time lights are on, i hope you get it lol if not just hola back,
and what inch is your cooltube and fan?
