What I'm saying is that you have a lot of plants in there and not much room in between but a good amount of room above. If you keep topping/fimming these, they are just going to get wider and bushier. You're good now - just need to trim the bottom third which is or will be soon wasted with that thick canopy. You're not going to have any room in between the plants as is - if you keep fimming/topping, they'll be so bushy that a lot of bud sites won't get light.

Am I making sense? Are we saying the same thing? Basically - you're good on the topping/fimming and more topping/fimming isn't going to help in your situation. Just trim out the bottoms and call it a day. Let them veg for a week or even 2 then flip them.

They look great though! Just keep in mind that it seems like you have room now - but that tent will be like a jungle in a few weeks.

Hope this helps?
YO

PS - the plan is to have big, thick colas...not little skinny ones. I find that I get the smaller colas when I do alot of topping...cause there's just so many of them? It probably evens out ie a bunch of smaller colas or a few big fat ones - but there is something satisfying about trimming a big, fat cola - IMHO.

RuchaYO, I like a big fat cola to trim myself! I think we are saying the same thing to a degree. Thing is, I have never topped these plants or fimmed them yet. I got them as 8 inch clones that my friend said were 'tops'...and I think thats why so bushy looking. I have just trimmed the bottom third (roughly, cuz there are a few branches coming outa the base..due to them being tops I spose, and look to fat to cut, hell, they are reaching right up also!). So, I think I am safe to do at least one FIM...the powerkush seem a bit tall and gangly, to let them keep going up. The quarazytrain are short squatty with plenty of tops. In fact they are 3 to 4 inches shorter then the powerkush. So I think I may just FIM the tall powerkush and leave the squattie short multiple tops alone. A compromise perhaps? Let the squatties veg up and catch up to the big girls...

The space is deceiving a bit, I have them close together, half under one 600 half under the other. I got my eurohoods way cooled off so gonna lower the candles, when I need to spread them apart a bit, and hopefully have a nice even canopy. My first grow was a freaking jungle. 15 plants, 4 strains, same set up and got 1.6 lbs.

Being only my 2nd go at this, I dont want to get to experimental yet...and stick to what i did last time. Got some fat ass nugs with one FIM cut and no topping at all.
Thanks for the input and compliments man! Getting another 4x8 soon and gonna grow em high as they can go with no FIM...so I will let you know how it plays out.

wow amazing m8 what did you get off your first grow and what you hoping to get of your second grow ?
this all done in soil ?
and what seeds used ?
sunshine #4 soiless mix, handwatered and fed GH 3 part series plus other GH...liq cool bloom, sweetener, and their flushing agent. got 1.6 lbs

this time i have switched to GH floranova 2 part, but same set up more or less. I will veg a bit longer and with the flornova hope for more then the 1.6 I got last time.

started from 6 inch clones in dixie cups with soiless #4...just transplanted and zapped them with 2 600 watt HID MH bulbs. Last time was only one 600 watt MH for veg..gave em both lights this time for the hell of it. Switched to HPS bulbs for flowering. Had a mite problem i kicked with floromite before went to flower. i veg for 24 hours both times.

I have heard you need 1000's of dollars to do it right. I spent bout 1500 total nutes and all on tent, two lights, two 6 inch inline fans (one for cooling, one for Phresh filter).

only problem is I have a 6 inch shorty Phresh and think I will need morethen that. May just puta separate scrubber in tent als. I have a Vortex inline sucking air in tent thru Phresh filter and exhausted out.

Believe it or not, the first grow was in a huge closet/ old coal delivery room that was almost exactly 5x10 in size. Now I have a basement....:)
