Hi DAT,
I'm a WaterFarm fan...first run about a decade ago. Currently running three WFs hooked together with diy recirculating system and GH controller. G13widows.

I am envious of your lights...that's gonna be great.

When your leaves reach for the light like they've been praying that's a good sign you're in your groove I'm growing a hybrid as well it looks very dative & has the outward appearance of jack herer which can take forever to finish but it has a fast finish time from the BlackBerry kush side IMG_20191116_172551.jpg

Hey there dst! Hope all is well for you and your family ! Flowering time is posted 8 to10 weeks. It was Mikes bday yesterday and he’s doing well.he is ready to move to Amsterdam. Lol. He doesn’t like the political climate here. Neither do I. Chucky has been Such A huge help in the garden!! But Dakota is getting too big for him to work on alone so I have hired a couple new farm hands . They are currently in training . I will intro them to you soon!

That’s awesome. The light is working real well so far. And I got my utility bill and did not see a dent. So I’m stoked. I need to get a back up Rez. Cuz I can’t go away even for a night under these current growing conditions. I would love to see your set up, if not too much trouble could you post some pictures? Gracious amigo. Thanks for stopping by .

Nice to see folks still rocking the WFs, I'm a big fan of anything GH has put out but I believe I have flowered more plants in WFs than anything else. I just got done redoing mine for recirculation with 1" vinyl tubing and plan to run 8 in a 4x8 tent.

DAT,
I purchased the Waterfarm controller and res...the ones they ship with the 8 pack. My space is cramped and they have small footprints.

I'm only running three Waterfarm units off the res. I was going to do 4 but one plant sorta crapped out. I do not drill out the holes in bottom bucket. I did cut down the dripper so they are nestled in the rocks (less splashing) and added a stronger air p[ump.

For recirculating...since I used the res for coco last run...I just kept the drip rings, pump and everything...so each wf bucket has 2 drip rings. And they are all connected down below...so the second drip rings I added distributes the res solution throughout...so it's always equal in all buckets. Works great.

The big res is 13 gallons and normally sits on top of the smaller one as a keep-full res. But I just top up the small res from the big res gravity feed...each morning. I didn't like the way it was meant to be...so that you can't open and inspect or test bottom res. Dumb arrangement which is why I seperated them.

On the small res...the way I have it plumbed...I get waterfall into res...as well as all the aeration from the drip rings. My waterfarm plants are outperforming my coco plants (same strain)
Cheers,
JD

PS} This is the only shot I have handy...but if you want more detail...let me know. The waterfarms and 2 coco plants are off to the left.

DAT,
Couple of points I missed. Filled the top buckets with a mix of hydroton and growstones. I like the growstones because they leach a bit of silica. Other thing is I run my air pump and water puump on a timer...4 half hour irrigations daily...like I used to do with ebb and flow. The picture shows my old airpumps. All were replaced with the smallest ecoplus commercial unit. A little noisier but much more "pump" action in the drippers.

Back when I first started using Waterfarms...I also ran my single unit on a timer...and it actually did better. Less splaxh and evap...so EC didn't raise as much. I run my waterfarms at 700ppm max because of that tendency to raise EC

Nice hookup. I had that same middle back up Rez once and it worked really great. I need to get another one soon.

And in the picture...that black 1/2" hose that disappears above the picture. I could hook that hose up to the keep-full float valve...and the whole thing would be automated. You could probably get by with just the smaller one if you only run 1 waterfarm.

I initially put too large a water pump in there. Overpowered the return flow and screwed with my water level. Smaller pump fixed it. I use that hose to fill a pitcher for 2 coco plants I hand water.
Cheers,

DAT,
That's a Waterfarm for ya. I suppose it's due to the small res...but balancing nute level so plant uses nutes and water at same rates...is important with WFs. My experience is that to keep res from rising like that...I was under 700ppm. But of course...that was a different strain.
Cheers,
JD

Our local hydro shop is selling the water farm buckets for $30 cdn. Usually they are like 99-119.99. Hell of a deal.

Fun journal you got her DR. I'll be a more frequent flyer from now on. Good stuff.

I totally agree with that . This strain I have is a light eater nutrient eater . I did a Rez change today and then ran a gallon of only water through her bucket to try to kinda clean out her roots a bit. Then I filled her back up with 2 fresh gallons of nutes at approximately 690-700ish. Thanks for the input Johnny. Have a wonderful weekend!

I cut small squares of plastic (poly white side up) with a slit for the stalk and cover my drip ring and hydroton and tuck it down the inside of the bucket a little. Helps with salt build up and loss to evaporation and that dreaded splatter of nutes. Just gotta peak in from time to time to make sure shes dripping and humming along.

I like canna coco. Good luck with your aero !

I have it as well,
The plastic cover that is.
I don’t submerge my drip ring under the pebbles because I prefer to have it sit just right above the pebbles so that I can see the movement of the water and see that the tiny little air holes are not being obstructed. It is also easier to wipe the drip ring clean if the dark grungy buildup that the nutrient leaves behind. I wipe it off daily. I don’t see salt build up on my drip ring . I was only using the plastic cover for protection when I trim the leaves and do clean up work and so I do have daily splatter on my tent doors and floors. It’s easy to clean off but since you mentioned it I am placing it back on top to see if I like it better then cleaning the splatter. It’s sitting very loosely on top , getting good airflow with the fan which is important to me because I don’t like the idea of moist trapped buildup which could possibly promote algae and mold and muskiness, all horrible attributes . Thank you for your input. Have a nice day.

She is already getting trichomes on her fan leaves which is a really great sign.
