Nutrient help

This makes sense. My humidity has been pretty good so I'm not concerned with spraying then. Do you ever use any kind of insecticide on your plants to prevent spider mites? I have heard a few horror stories. Hey, a free lighter is cool. I'm happy with anything free. Thanks again for all your insight.
I don't use any pesticides of any kind. Strong plants can defend themselves. Besides that, I don't wear outside clothes into the garden and I don't bring people in. My dog hangs out there, but even still, no bugs. If I did have an issue, I would buy Green Lacewings larvae and be done with them. I have used Mighty Wash in the past and still have some, but I haven't used it in a while. The last time I had to used it, I was involved in a co-op and one of the guys was a dirty hippie and infected everything with mites. No issues since I got rid of him, and since I am not in a co-op anymore.

Here is a horror story:

Just before I went to Phish at MSG in NYC for a NYE I had a friend carry those little bastards over to my grow without knowing. I was gone for four days and knew they were gonna be thirsty when I got home, what had happened was much, much worse. They were all dropped over and COVERED with webs. The leaves were brown and shriveled, it was fucked. I grabbed a Shop-Vac and sucked up as many webs (and those little fuckers) as I could. They still had another 4 weeks to go so I figured I would try to save them. I got lucky. I only lost a couple, but it was tough to get them back to life and probably added close to another 3 weeks to their flower time. Oddly enough, none hermied. Keep in mind, if you see one, there are at least 100 you don't see. Don't let this happen to you!

**Always wear clean clothes into your garden and don't bring anybody in that has been near a garden or plants.**

Great information! I'll try to make this the last question for a while, what kind of soil are you using? I've been using Pro Mix HP. It seems decent but I'm wondering if there are better choices.

Listen bro, you can ask me as many questions as you want. I had to take some time and play Edward Scissor Hands tonight as my girls are coming up. :) If I am chillin out and have time to answer you, you could ask me a dozen questions at a time and I will try to answer (it's a little tough but I will try). The best part of your questions, they are not stupid questions. I hate when somebody makes an account and the first thing they do is ask how far away from the seedling they keep the light or something else trivial that they should be taking the time researching themselves. Your good bro!

Just an FYI to you and all reading this thread, liquid seaweed (from Blue Planet) causes the plant to grow such a thick outer layer that bug CAN'T bite through. Yep, that's right, they can't get to the sweet nectar of the plant, die and/or move on. Not to mention all the other goodies it has in it.

On the the dirt, I make it myself. I do start with Pro-mix so I agree with you there. I amend it with a few things, but I am gonna add more to the mix when I make my next batch (prolly within the next two week).

Simple list:

Pro-mix (any flavor Sunshine or whatever is available to you)
Lobster compost (big bag)
Earthworm castings (big bag)
Blood meal (2 cups IIRC)
---This is where my current mix stops, but I also use coconut water, blackstrap molasses, and cal-mag.--

These I am gonna try on the next batch:
Kelp meal
Bone meal
More extra coarse perlite
Bat Guano

Some online heads have criticized my soil mix, but I have always had great results with it. I am gonna try to improve on it this time around just to see. I have been using the original 4 ingredients for several years and it is safe for all stages of grow. Or, you could just use the straight pro-mix and feed them everything they need through food and other teas.

Thanks for all this info bro! Sounds like you know what you're doing and I'm really intrigued. I have a harvest in mid April and after that I'm going with your suggestions starting with Blue Planet. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to respond to my posts. I know this will pay off for me. I may have a few questions as things progress but in the meantime have a great Easter and good luck with your harvest.

Don't sweat it. I have been grower for while now, but I am a different kind of grower. I fuck with them even still and have been doing so since I started. Just to see what they will do. It helps to understand the plant better and to solve problems faster. In most cases there are three main issues with new growers. First, they over water them. Second, they over water them. Third, they over feed and lock out all nutes from salt buildup on the roots.

I am stoked for you. Your plants will react EVERY time you feed them. My girls sit pretty on feeding day almost waiting for it. :)

Ask away my friend, I got your back. Happy Pagan sex day that got all fucked up by Christianity. :) The harvest is looking sweet. The cold weather is really bringing out the colors on them. I will snap a pic or two later when I head down to the Bat Cave. Three down, seventeen to go. It is daunting.

Hey bro, I'm less than 3 weeks away from my first harvest. Any advice on flushing? I searched online and everyone has a different opinion. I'm running Dyna Gro on this batch. The plants are in 10 gallon pots. Should I stop the nutes now? How often should I flush and how much watch should I put into each pot? Should I bother with a detox supplement? Any tips would be appreciated as always.

flushing is an old wives tale.

Just straight water from here on out. Or, I would do one watering with blackstrap molasses and then straight water from there.

It is far from a wives tale. If you smoke a ganja that is all nuted up, you can taste the difference for sure. I have tested it and the smoke is night and day different from flushing and not flushing. I have done this and seen the difference. Why do you say it isn't true? You ever notice that little tinge of harshness to some otherwise really good looking smoke before? That is the plant that wasn't flushed. Using a product to flush is pointless tho.

How much Blackstrap per gallon? BTW, how much Blackstrap do you use on a regular basis?
Add about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per gallon of water (it's not an exact science and doesn't need to be). I don't use it a lot, just late in the cycle. I use it for both the watering and the feeding for the 5th and 6th weeks and then just straight water til they are hanging. I have a buddy that uses it every time he gives them anything. I always make sure the plants are good and wet before harvest too. I would rather they took longer to dry and cure than they did it quickly. You will get better medicine.

Sounds good. With the straight watering do you aim for a certain about of run off or do you use the same amount as used previously?

I have been doing this for a lot of years and have things setup super easy for myself. When I water them, I just count. If one of them looks like it is a little more thirsty than her sisters, I may give her another 5 to 10 seconds of the wand. With my count, there will be a certain amount of runoff that I am shooting for. I also oxygenate the water with an aquarium pump and stone for a few hours before watering. This is a pic of my watering setup. I will mix the molasses in my reservoir, but I wash it out after each time with organic dish soap (it is a pain in the ass, but gives me an excuse to do it).

Any time. Same to you too. My Atheist ways don't always go over well, but I don't try to push it too often. Today was originally a Pagan sex holiday, everybody have sex like bunnies!
