Nutrients???

Hey guys, so I’ve gotten the basic idea on most of my set up... I will be going with the hempy buckets and led, with a 4x4 tent, I will be starting with the strain of big bud by sensi seed... only because I want to get the most I can in my first grow... what I am concerned is about the nutrients I should be using since everyone claims theirs is the best... also apart from nutrients what other things should I buy as preventative measures Incase anything goes wrong I can bring my plants back to life... please and thank you in advance

Here are my top ten suggestions:

1. As a preventative measure, I always use Cal-Mag when I water, even when I am just plain watering I still use 1 teaspoon per gallon.

2. I ph the water to equal 6.50 whether feeding nutrients or just plain water, always ph.

3. I use the Fox Farms trio sparingly with good results IMO. Definitely never more than 1/2 the recommended feeding schedule (less = more).

4. When I feed nutrients in the final 3 gallon fabric pots, I will use a total of 1.5 gallons of water per plant, in three (3) increments of half-gallon each. The first two half-gallon will have nutrients in the water, the final half gallon will be plain water ph=6.50. I do this to prevent salt buildup in the roots.

5. I always wait until the pots are dry, usually 3-4 days, then saturate with water enough to get 20% runoff.

6. Be sure the pots are never left to sit in runoff water, always drain the water away immediately.

7. Maintain proper air exchange/ventilation in the tent, a 4" or 6" duct fan will be essential, plus small fans blowing inside the tent.

8. Lollipop the plants the week before they flip to 12/12 light schedule, much less stress on the plant than waiting until flowering.

9. Keep the temps up to at least 72 degrees F with the lights off to avoid mold or mildew issues.

10. If you get a power outage while in flower, and the lights go off in the middle of the 12 hour lights on schedule, leave the lights off and plants in the dark until the next 12 hour lights on cycle time. The plants will be fine with 14 or 20 or whatever hours of darkness, otherwise you risk stressing the plants and potential hermie's (I learned this the hard way).

Thanks!!! Good info... yes power outages are a possibility for me so that’s good to know... I have a 4x4x6’7 how many weeks should I veg before switching to flower? Or before topping or fim?

hempy is as involved as any other hydro but is simple with just a ph pen and a ppm meter. probably can get away without a ppm meter but definitely need a ph pen. don't skimp on that

google "battery operated liquid transfer pump" 15$ on Amazon.com
Nice!!! Definitly will look into it... I was looking at another one but it was like 60 bucks... but 15 is way better lol it’s only for transferring once a day for a few minutes, shouldn’t give me too much trouble...buying 5 seeds, if all 5 pop then I’ll have 5 buckets 5gallons

you have to manually pump it with the 15$ dollar one its cheap and flimsy but its easy to pump out the run off, I feed by hand

Interesting... I was thinking how that would go with the transplant only because it’s perlite and not soil... I was just thinking using the block and just put it in the 5 gallon after the roots look healthy and somewhat long enough

you have to be very careful with your watering practices if you jump to a large container the perlite dries fairly fast and you will learn to balance it, if you can start in jiffy pellets too
