Oh my fucking gay hell!!!

I'm about to go stark raving MAD! Has anyone ever had to deal with an infestation of fruit flies? During the summer we had some fruit that was a little ripe (making jam) and had to throw them out due to fruit flies. Now I can't get rid of them. I've tried everything under the sun. Flytraps, flying insect spray (don't try this, it just pisses them off), I even bought fruit fly traps that are designed JUST for fruit flies. They just laughed at them. I searched high and low on the internet and tried every method recommended from experts to village idiots. To no avail. I am stumped. I have poured bleach down all the drains, boiling water, sulfuric acid, yellow cake uranium (just makes your sink glow at night plus I don't have to shave anymore. The hair just falls off). I shampooed and vacuumed all the rugs. I've cleaned this house from top to bottom. THEY'RE STILL HERE.

Has anyone on here ever successfully eradicated fruit flies in their lifetime? Please tell me how. I'm at my wit's end.

My next step is burning the house down and dancing naked around the conflagration. Help?

While working in a fruit processing plant I learnt that they are like cockroaches in the end .. If there is food they will survive lol

Peppermint oil/extract - 5 bottles of it.. 2 pieces of paper towel.. Open all of the bottles, grab the paper towel and twist it up tight like you'd be putting a wick in the bottles... tip the bottles to get the 'wick' coated in oil.. and then distribute them as appropriate. Check on evaporation and quick re-juice the wicks with a quick bottle tilt every X amount of days (depending on the temperature(s) in the room and humidity)

And if anyone tells you that fruit flies don't sting, bite, whatever? Punch them in the face. You have my permission. They do something that hurts. I get several "bites" a day. I don't know if it's toxic shit or whatever but it feels like a mosquito bite. I've read that they don't have mouth parts that can actually bite you. Whatever they're doing I want it to stop. Fucking little bastards.

I tried that and also lemon grass oil. The house smells terrific. The fruit flies agree. :p

You want ammonia as the main active ingredient if using chems.

Do a super clean on everything. Use ammonia based product to clean with on safe surfaces then clear the room a set off a aerosol bomb. Done.

If you don't wish to go with peppermint oil, use a shallow dish, pancake syrup, and plastic wrap.. put syrup in the dish(es), plastic wrap them nice and tight so no air can get out, then pop a few holes in it.. they'll be attacted to it, and will start to crawl in the holes and get stuck. Repeat/replace.. clean/re-do as necessary.

I tried that too. yeast and sugar, wine vinegar, wine, syrup, ripe fruit, etc., etc., ad infinitum. I seem to be increasing thier numbers rather than decreasing them. I guess I'll just have to call the Orkin guy. Shit. More money out of my pocket.

The only thing the bomb does is speed up their maturation and triggers their reproductive cycle. Plus they build up an immunity to the poison. They are hardy little shits.

Chiggers bite. And those bites itch like hell. Wash your floors and bedsheets in hot water.
No these are definitely fruit flies. Little red flying bastards. I've compared them to images on the internet and it's spot on. Fruit flies. I guess that makes me a ripe fruit? har har.
