I have a family friend that's selling some rural land. Her real estate agent said she's been getting cash offers (green money cash) for all her rural properties from out-of-staters looking to get into mj biz, especially from Chinese foreigners. Domestic out-of-state flooding in, now there's international money flooding in.

Let’s talk security. We have cameras all over the place, digital trip wires, and now we are designing manual trips. We took this idea, and are making them out of steel so they will withstand rain, snow, etc. Going to place these 00 buck shot rounds in various places. It will disable a trespasser fast!.. it’ll give me time to hear the round, and go down and take care of things. View attachment 4793671

Yes... They are buying up A LOT of land. My sister said some Chinese bought up 400 acres of land over by Wilson in Oklahoma, and put up 200 green houses. They've always said they will destroy us from within... without ever firing a bullet. Word on the street is that they are paying 3-4 times what the land is worth, and being funded by the PRC.

I posted a couple of articles a while back on this thread here

It describes some of that foreign money spilling in from failed ops in other states. I'd be surprised to find out that the PRC is behind any of it...targeting a tiny market like OK. I could imagine organized crime or political corruption money needing a "legit" wash, they need something productive to do with all that cash that can't go on the books.

bongsmilie if chinese people move here, and want to work here, cool. If they want to stay here long term, they would have to become citizens. At that point, aren't they, us? Or do they need to undercut and buy out grow ops before they officially close to be a true sooner? I know my white family got here too late to physically run people off, but I'm sure they shared the sentiment. They sure benefited from those events, as do I. And now they vote to disenfranchise Americans in spite of their own best interests. It's Fucking crazy. :wall:
So how is this Chinese grown weed? Any landrace genetics coming along? We could all benefit from that exchange. And the BIG SECRET of Oklahoma? Beautiful girls. Truth. Now toss some asian genetics into that. Yes, please. We already are home to the largest vietnamese population outside Vietnam. No one complains about them buying up okc and Edmond.
And with a flooded market, shouldn't that competition have driven prices down by now? They already got rid of the black market risks, but kept charging black market prices. And the quality has Suffered. Sure, I can pick from 500 candy flavored strains, but none of it blasts me like a cheap @$$ bag sawed off a Mexican brick. I wish it were a tolerance issue. But I quit for 6 months. My hats off to the sober. Even then, disappointment is in every store and is over priced. I grow my own.
Ok... Pun intended. TL;DR shit here. Just wanted to point out a few things while everyone is talking about it.

If they do it's going to be some long flowering fluffy shit. I've got 200+seeds from China via Geek.com. I may try to pop a couple just to see what happens. I tried to grow some spring '19 but I didn't know what I was doingso I can't really base anything off of that experience. it was fluffy and wasn't hardly frosted. I actually have what I harvested from it still. I just haven't been desperate enough to try it.

Give it a rip. Best sativa I ever smoked looked like complete garbage. Wispy little flowers, mostly leaves, and so dry I stripped the branch by pulling it between two fingers and it crumbled to powder. 1 bowl, 2 hits, blasted off like a rocket. That "soaring" sativa high.

I understand the conflicting emotions surrounding the race history of our state and country, and I've thought about the same questions you propose. This is not meant to be negative toward any nationality or ethnicity, rather to report to other OK growers what is happening in the nascent market.

The market is flooded, and it's going to get even deeper with the 2021 harvests. Considering what @DoubleAtotheRON said above, putting 200 greenhouses on 400 acres is going to produce a lot of something, and there's a lot more land being snatched up by out of state interests, as confirmed by a rural property real estate agent. It's going to be a race to the bottom. Low cost, low price, low quality, big quantity. The market is already in a shakedown, dropping an excess of growers and dispensaries who got in over their heads. Like you said above, the quality is already suffering. I've visited several commercial grow ops, and I've been underwhelmed by what I saw.

I was in SoCal from 1999 to 2011, when everything was structured as patient coops and collectives. I've been back to that area several times over the years, and the quality I've seen (on average) is not as consistently good as it was in the early 00's. I've got some close friends with very high quality boutique commercial grows:weed:, similar size to @DoubleAtotheRON grow, and there is good stuff available. There's just a lot of less than good, cheap stuff filling the shelf space.

Another issue I was recently told by family with land near Woodward is that surrounding outdoor ops and hemp farms make it impossible for him to grow sinsemilla. He was attempting to start his own grow op, but his last harvest had thousands of seeds.:wall:

As this is the Oklahoma Grower's Thread, I figured it would be useful for other OK growers to be aware of what's happening in our state. I think it's relevant here.

Peace:peace:

Well...I talked with another grower getting out of the biz today. They were in unincorporated county land South of OKC. Setup is similar-ish to that of @DoubleAtotheRON . Long time grower, boutique setup, all organic soil/nutes, good quality. They said they went from getting $3000+/lb in early 2020 harvests to their recent harvest where they had to take $1800/lb. They described the situation as too cutthroat. I don't know the extent of their connections for getting to market, but they said the dispensaries just don't seem to care so much about the quality. They want cheap, cheap, cheap.

In other murmurings, I heard from a friend that meddles in politics that there's conversations about the out-of-state issue going on at the Capitol. If you care about that issue, let your legislators know.

"Too cutthroat"... That about sums it up. You've seen this past harvest we just finished up, good clean labs, and we do not have anyone beating our door down to get it at $1600 a lb. Early on, after the law passed, we'd get $3000-$3300 a lb, and get absolutely blow up by text, messenger, email... but not anymore. Maybe... just maybe after all this Croptober stuff clears the market in March/April, the price and demand may go back up. Since we are fully funded and have no debt or investors, we can still stay in the game at these current prices, but alot of them can't. We have like 18 Dispensaries in a town of 22,000. They can't all get profitable or stay in business with those numbers. And you got to keep in mind that out of those 22,000 people, there might be 8% of them that are card holder patients.... this whole thing is going to self level in the next year or so.

Mimosa, bag seed. Can't tell you the breeder, don't even remember which dispensary she came from. Same way with my pineapple Express, got her in a bag from a dispensary. They are both 4th generation clones. While thrilled to be growing, I'm a little disappointed in this strain/pheno. She grows small buds that taste... earthy. As a DWC grow I don't know how she tastes earthy but she does. I don't like it, but the wife does. I may pop a few more do a small pheno hunt.i got 30ish. My profile pic is this one's grandma.
