There are fantastic ready to hang rigs out there.
Timber , HLG , Gavita , G8 , Fluence , etc.

Many offer mixed spec diodes and even UV .

But whatever your choice good luck in your grows.

If heat or power are not an issue a 1000 watt HPS for a 4 x 4 is a very good light. I'm biased because I have cheap electricity and can control the heat for all but 2-3 months out of the year when I can just grow outdoors.

I also like the HPS because with a sealed hood I can let the plants get closer to the light and use more of the vertical space in the tent. I'll move to LED eventually but for now the upfront costs aggravate any rational financial decision to switch over. Different growers have different situations. I penciled it out and it didn't make financial sense to tie up my money for 3-4 years for the lights to pay for themselves when that money could be used more effectively to increase my wealth.

If I lived in Hawaii or someplace where electricity and heat are more of a concern I would already be rocking the best LED money could buy.

Why do you even post in this section?

All that really matters is that you've been growing weed. What kind of light is irrelevant.

The end result is what matters and you can get to a successful finish with different lighting options. I understand the efficiency factor with LED's. I also know that an HID will kick out some solid product and they should not be overlooked for an inexpensive entry into growing some good cannabis. It depends on a variety of factors as to which lighting solution is the best choice for different growers and their particular environment and situation.

Dude, this thread was created by an HID user looking into LED options. Again, why are you even posting here.

I know that you know your shit when it comes to growing, but ffs dude, seriously, your broken record is broken. Let it go. If you wanna stick with old tech, then cool - nobody is hating on you. But again, why are you even even in this sub forum?

Chill. Life's too short. Maybe my post wasn't well placed but why do you even give a damn?

Pretty much, yes but places like HGL use slightly better bits.

I started of with a single 110w knock-off from Walmart:o LM301b & Meanwell driver:hump:, liked it so much I'm switching everything to QB's - So, yes

This tall is easy in a 5 gal bucket

My 2 cent. Coming from long time hps club.
All the name brands I’ve used are killing it yields for sure. No doubt. Easily 2x yield per watt compared to hps. Here some random pics. My favorite so far is the hlg. Mann the last three photos of the same two tables are hlg Diablo span over about 3 weeks. 6x5 tables. Seem to be filling in. I’ll be posting more updates with bud shots of gavita, hlg, photo bio mx. and growstation 1800 pro.

buttttt, there’s something special about the old skool hps. I’m still learning led world to be fair. The PPF / umols column is the most important specification in the chart. The higher PPF the more photons available.

Got a few of these last week. I really want to hang them up but I'm already 2 weeks in flower under a 660 watts hps in an air cooled hood. Not sure if it would hurt them to change midstream :eyesmoke:

Check out Spider Farmer. They seem to get excellent reviews, reasonable price and can be bought and delivered by Amazon ( who seems to have the best price I can find)

research, what do you think this is ? Bob you jump on lots of threads with a terrible attitude with no intention of helping your fellow growers ! If you ain't here to learn or help why bother ? So I ask again to give you the opportunity to help ! Why are the lights you use better than all the others ? I'm interested as I'm thinking of investing and upgrading from 2400w of hps and want real information, users opinions ! What else have you used to compare led with ?

LOL I love this old guy!!!!

Lumatek and gavita are cool, quantum boards rock, do a search, passes a tissue.
After just about 30yrs of flowering with hps, i just made the leap into LED.
I went with The Gavita 1930e’s. Why? Because i’m rich. No actually because i swapped out half my DE hps lights with them. Pretty easy conversion. Same 4’ X 6’ spread. I aint got time to be fuckin with raising strips up and down. These are mounted just like DE’s. Up high, fixed. Could i have made the conversion with even more efficient led’s sure. Could have done it cheaper? yes of course. You always can.

The initial results are in. 3lbs/light from a strain i know well. Not bad at all for 780w’s. Not as much as i’ll pull from my DE’s at 1150watts though but shit. Almost what i would expect to yield from DE hps at only 1000w.
Swapped out all my cmh’s in the veg room with qb’s, couldn’t be happier. And same thing. Fixed height. I don’t got time to be raising lights up and down. If i had a smaller setup i would prob be rockin strips no doubt. But maybe qb’s if i had plenty height lol.
I live in Northern California where we got super high power costs. I didn’t want to be forking out over $4k every month this summer again to the fuckers who burned me down a couple-few years ago. Should be around $3k after i swap out the other lights. Which is still sickening but what do you do?
The switch will also make it easier to keep partially lit during all the power outages we have now.
