Optimum Spectrum for Veg?

It is my understanding that the blue-light-response reduces internode-length, counters etiolement, entices root growth and opens the cotyledons etc pp. So it's own effect influences the morphology as well, but if it directly opposed the Phytochrome signal-transducting chain, Id venture to say, rather not.
The blue is also associated with less leaf area, as a response to incr. heat stress, so this overall loss of photosynthates is just stiffling the growth promoting abilities of stable Pfr a little.
This is just my observation but with my higher blue led lights the stalks or stems are thicker and stronger, harder. I grew out some seeds a while back and put them under a almost entirely red light and they grew well and healthy but the stems were rubbery and wobbly, like the plant would bend over when I picked it up. This could all just be the strain genetics but given what you said I think the blue also contributes to stem non-vertical stem growth.

sounds you have a good overview over the usual veg lights, i am keen to hear to what you find.

you can see some salvia in regard to blue red ratios.
up to 25% looks fine to me.

Good info. Wondering now how to determine the percent of blue going by just the graph. For example, looking at the 40G how can I calculate what percent blue this has?

Not concerned with my lights. But wondering if you have done or noticed the differing outputs of side by side top brand LEDs?

I like a little more red in veg light. Seems to make bushy indicas stretch a little and during germination and seedling to promote root growth.. 4K all the way
If you really wanna see them stretch and promote root growth? 660osram

Did you stick with the 4k 90cri's for now or have you switched things up? Just curious to hear how things are going since raising them/lowering watts a bit.

My story is a sad one. It turns out that my problem was Russet mites and not lights or nutes, etc. I destroyed all my plants and nuked the room because I don't want to have to fight with those nasty f***ers. My sense is my lights are fine, after raising them a little my plants were praying up to lights out. And given what i've learned in this thread I think those 4k have about 20% blue, so not too much me thinks.

I still need to replace another veg light, and I'm thinking about going with the 4k gen 3 thrive. Either that or I'll go the cheaper route and do 4k gen 2.

sucks with the mites, at least you solved the veg light spectrum riddle.

I'm curious about what these guys think about this as well, more specifically the use of these specific nm diodes as compared to the white light spectrum's that most people seem to be using these days.

I have very little experience growing and am not in a good situation to experiment so can't offer much as far as accurate comparisons of finer details (strech/internode length for example), but the last two mj grows I vegged/flowered under my gla highlight boards. The plants seemed to grow very healthy even through all my grower errors and lack of proper attention to them. I wish I were in a better situation to be able to try things out specifically on some cannabis plants, but still a ways away from doing that. That said, I do have tons of different spectrums/cri options (more than I would like to admit from grabbing "sale" items along with other things) and could set up my two smaller tents to grow out some kale's or something a little more legal friendly if you all wanted to see something specific. I know there is tons of info to be had all over the internet pertaining to these, but just figured I'd offer it up if anything specific came to mind, plus it'd give me something to do after this grow is done and I figure out what happens next when the lease is up in a couple months.
