Perpetual setup

no thats impossible, period. and when using organic nutes you still have to flush plants! organics have salts to, and flushing is to rid teh soil of salt buildup.

i dont think its impossible , i have a 1.2 x 1.2 x 2.0 tent and i do a perpetual grow in there using a 400w and a cooltube .. 12/12 from seed growing in coco , veg nutes starting from day of sprout at 1/8 the recommended dose building up to recommended dose until white hairs show then flowering nutes till end .... getting anywhere between 1 - 3 oz per plant. i harvest 1 - 3 plants every 2 - 3 weeks. i sometimes take a cutting off the bottom branch of a plant and clone it in a propergater with just a normal sized house cfl bulb in a lamp resting above the propergator ... you could do this with clones and it saves having a mother , but feminized seeds aint that much tbh , depends on seedbank. is it impossible ... NO , is it alot of work ... YES !

Also i disagree about the lumens bro ... if that was the case why do certain people who have mastered the 12/12 from seed method get almost a g per watt ... .. if you was only getting 1/2g per watt thats 200g under a 400w light ... regardless of lumens.
200g would be roughly 6- 7 plants at a oz each this could easily be achieved 12/12 from seed and it would be Quality MJ ...

SRY...u dont NEED alot of plants for perpetual harvest...u can do it with 1 plant if thats what floats ur boat
ummm no ... once you have chopped that one plant then you would have to start again ... hows that perpetual .... ??

what you dont understand is lumens per square foot. u need so many lumens to grow so many plants. for a perpetual setup you NEED to grow MANY plants. PERIOD.
harvesting every 2 weeks, lets do some math: it takes 2-3 weeks of veg + 8 weeks of flowering to produce 1OZ/plant
Day1week1: start 3 clones to guarentee sucess.
Day1week2: start 3 more clones
Day1week3: start 3 more clones
Day2week3: move first clone to flower
Day1week4: start 3 more clones
Day2week4 move second plant to flower.

by this point an individual taking the strongest of 3 clones and killing the weak 2 would have 7 plants, to continue this cycle untill week 11 (8 weeks flower + 3 weeks clone) would mean the individual has 11-12 plants and starts harvesting 1 plant per week.

ok now we get to the real math now that we have an equation.
9 plants flowering x 5,500 Lumens per plant = 49,500 Lumens to properly flower these plants.
4 plants in veg (one mother, 3 clones 4,500 lumens for the mother, and 1,000 per clone) = 8,000 lumens.

now remember his question

can it be done with ONE 400 WATT HPS?? No it can not be done with 1 400 watt HPS. for this reason

55,000 Lumens (the BEST 400 watt on the market BTW..) is only enough to sustain the flowerin room. he still needs to support the clone room.

this isn;t about tables or BS. i use organic nutes, grown in SOIL, watered by hand for my grow. this is about the lumens produced. and the simple answer is get another light.
I have seperate veg tent.

So I guess Ill have to stick to harvesting once a month. Currently, I have a 3 gallon 15 site dwc cloner, a 10 gallon 8 site dwc tub, 2 3 gallon dwc buckets for mothers all in a 2x4 tent. Its all under 2 180 watt Lighthouse blackstar LEDs. In my 4x4 tent all I've got a is a 6 site rdwc that uses 5 gallon buckets. I plan on splitting the system to two 3 bucket rdwc systems. So in the end I harvest 3 plants every month. There's a 400 watt cooltube hpsin there.

Ill take 15 clones and root them for 2 weeks. Then Ill take the best 8 and veg them for 8 weeks. In that time ill be fimming them after they show the 3rd set of leaves. Usually in the first week of veg. In the second or third Week ill be super cropping the main stem and any other off shoots. 2 weeks after putting the 8 in for veg I'll be taking another 15 clones. After the 8 have vegged for 4 weeks, ill pick the best 3 and flower them.
So if you were me, would you say that the strategy outlined above is optimal? I guess I can't harvest everyother weekwith this setupbut down the line I'm going to be upgrading. So this is good to know.

I understand lumens given off by light just fine and the amount of space a particular light will be effective in. I also understand that this has nothing to do with a perpetual grow. Yes you do need light, but which type and how powerful has no matter. As long as you are in continual growth meaning you always have plants going in different stages, you have a perpetual grow. You could be using CFL's from home depot and have a perpetual grow.

yes i know, but you would have to have 1 23 watt CFL per square foot to get 4,300 lumens/square foot, hes asking about growing quality, which is at least the quality of outdoor..... the sun puts off approximately 4,300 lumens per square foot......he COULD do it with a single 150 watt if he wanted to but its going to be fluffy, light bud full of air.

Ok. So I'm just being curious here, but if I wanted to do a perpetual harvest every 2 weeks, could I do it with just one 4x4 table and one 400hps cooltube in the flowering room? Assuming of course that I'm using organic nutrients and therefore a flush wouldn't be necessary.
I can only grow 12 plants legally. you can do a 2-3 week rotation, but the plant has to be a fast finisher 6-7 weeks. I have a 3'x6' flower box with a 600watt HPS and a 400 watt MH, and a 3'x3' veg box with a 250 watt MH. When you harvest you take a clone. I would also suggest a couple auto-flowering seeds just in case you have problems cloning and need a qiuck back up plant. I tried harvesting every week, but it's just to hard 2-3 week is alot better.

2000 lumens sq/ft, but more is better.

Having a perpetual grow also has nothing to do with how dense your flowers are. As for the quality, poster im sure you know the larger your light is the more possiblility there is for larger and denser flower growth, only if it is used in the proper sized room with the proper cooling methods in practice. Respect

see thats your problem.... you come on here assuming people automaticly know a bunch about growing, like the lumen intake of plants exc. this guy is a noobie looking for advice on a proper set-up. if you want to fuck around and show people how to grow shitty weed goto grasscity forums. if you want to give people good advice and keep them on a good path to grow good weed so they want to keep growing i suggest you change your attitude, since you started making on the negative remarks the OP has barley posted. probably because hes satisfied with the information he can actually verify which he's been getting through PM's.

oh and here, just for the record you might want to actualy read something before you post. heres a good place to start https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/316467-sea-green-bible.html the exact same place i sent the OP.

If someone comes on here and only has a 400 watt bulb, im not going to tell him he can't do a perpetual grow unless he has more powerful lights, because it isn't true. I was merely trying to explain what a perpetual grow is as you are giving false info about it.

mhmm. i'll just let the higher ups on teh site deal with you @ this point. i've allready taken all the nesicary actions so if you feel its still your job to spread contrary info go ahead. there watching :)

oh and just for the record, dont post about different possible grows every time you post, post what the OP actualy needs....... hes wondering if he can do a perpetual grow, on TABLES with a 400 watt.... the tables part makes the 400 watt to weak....... if he wanted to do a perpetual SCROG he could do it easily with 400 watts, but thats not what hes asking, is it?

Only read first page. I use to do the 2 week perpetual and it's a lot of work and a lot of numbers(number of plants, if your not legal then this matters a lot)

Now I have chosen to go with fewer plants 4 max in flower room and then I keep mothers in a 2'x4'x5' grow tent.

I veg my 4 plants for 2 months and then they go in flower room under 600w hps after the first 4 come out.

Sometimes I stagger stick 2 in and another two 30 days later and harvest 2 every month.

Vegging them longer I'am able to get larger yields than I did in my 2 week perpertuals because I used 3-4 times the amount of plants(much smaller plants I did 0 veg to 1 week veg time at most.)

I wouldn't do a ebb and flow with one tray with different plant ages because you will be using different strength nutes and different supplements for the different stages of flower they are in.

Multiple trays work better but you need more than 1 400hps.

Good luck in whatever you decide.
