PH dropping quickly, cant get away from 4.6

So last night I decided to try and dose .5ml/gal of Clorox (Sodium hypochlorite).12 hours later as of this morning, the pH had risen .2 for the first time in a week, the PPM's had finally dropped by 10, and she's smelling good again. Think that fixed it for sure. Just gonna run sterile from here on.

get a bag of HTH pool shock. calcium hypochlorite instead. 0.10 grams per 10 gallons is 1ppm free chlorine. 3ppm seemed to work well for me to keep everything nice and white.

how often do you dose it? I mean obviously every top off or change out would need some added to the new water, but yeah, any idea how long it lasts for in a res?
