The bioherd in peat or coco sure require carbs unless you're running them strictly hydro nutes. I mix organics into my ProMix HP and add some DynoMyco and even some of my unfiltered dugout water to get lots of good bugs working in there. Carbs are for them but I use blackstrap molasses, unpasturized local honey and some dextrose. Little bit of everything. I supplement with the 3-part nutes when I think they need it.

You shouldn't have to "feed" your microbes. There is enough coming from the root exudates to keep them healthy. Having sugar in the root zone? You can't think of any?
Again, plant root exudates are enough for a micro herd to live off of. That's how it works in nature. Unless wild cannabis only grows next to maple trees. If so, this is the first time I've been made aware of it.

Haven't seen any problems yet and been doing it for a couple years since switching from DWC to a semi-organic grow using ProMix HP for my base.
Growers of many plants use things not found in nature to improve crop yields and quality so I'm not being radical here. Not like I'm using PGRs.

Here’s an update:
Today when I fed my plants, I swapped out the General Hydroponics Flora series Bloom nutrients for the Advanced Nutrient Jungle Juice Bloom. I kept the GH Grow and Micro in the mix.
I tested PH afterward and it came in just fine without any adjustment needed at 5.7 (again I’m growing in coco). I’m surprise that General Hydroponics Bloom adds so much acidity to the water. I’m wondering if they recently changed something with the formula because I never had this issue before.
Based on this, looks like it’s Jungle Juice for me from here on out. Not a terrible thing I suppose considering it’s a bit cheaper than Flora and I can eliminate having to buy PH UP.

Far as I know, coco is essentially inert.
Interesting, I’ll have to do some research on this. Any particular reason not to use 2-5ml/gal of grow with this method to keep things green?

it was based off Lucas formula but the grower (grateful head) changed it up and dialed it in at that recipe. alot of coco growers use it is all i know so it must workd

I use Gh flora series and my ph is usually around 5.5 after mixing nutrients. You prolly have really hard water affecting the outcome. I have perfect 7.0 well water but I use RO in my main rooms res and never have any issues other then normal shifts .

Thanks dude! Spent a lot of time with them. Really happy how there turning out. The tap roots curled when I started them and I thought it might stunt them, but they seem to be coming along nicely. Even if they are a little shorter, they’re making some beautiful frosty colas. I always find it kinda sad to cut them in the end, but I certainly appreciate their sacrifice.
