phenotypes are characteristics plants will have. IE/ you have 2 plants one is indica(a) one is sativa(b), if you bred them the off spring would (ab) now lets say your trying for a certain characteristic, lets say height.Now (a) has a dominant gene for short(1) and recessive for tall(2), while (b) is the opposite. If you bred them the off spring would/could possibly come out (a1b1)a mix of indica/sativa but a short plant,(a2b2) a mixed but tall,(a1b2) and (a2b1)mix that could either be short or tall as they both carry each strains dominant gene, in that case which ever pheno for height for Mj as a species would take dominance , hope thats clear

yes but would take alot of time and enrgy and knowing your plants very well, unlike the rest of nature inbreeding is a must in this case=)

i know this post is old but just wanted to clear something up phenotypes are just diferences between plants yes mr green thumb is right in a sence but it is much more then that there is not only sativa or indica phenotypes can be from smell or how the leaf looks any diference between 2 plants from the same strain im leaving a lot out just want to keep it simple

could somebody post extensively on this topic? I need to understand it as i have some seeds with indeterminate phenotypes coming and i want to know what to expect

intermediate phenotypes, whazat? phenotype is actually very simple to understand. just replace that word, with the word "trait." so if you had a short bushy plant, there's a phenotype. 2 actually, 1 being short, the other being bushy. pretty simple really, it's the terminology that sometimes gets in the way, lol.
