I just wanted to say thank you piper84. Reading your journal has really helped me make some of the decisions for my new set up. I have not grown for several years and only got a couple grows in due to moving. I have recently picked it back up and got a 5x5 gorilla tent. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do 2 600w In separate reflectors or 1 1000w. I have recently decided to order the raptor dual bulb reflector with 2 600w hortilux super hps enhanced spectrum. I had also previously decided to go with fox farm ocean forest and fox farm perlite to help air the soil out and have 10 gal smart pots. just waiting for everything to come in I'm getting so excited! Was just wondering for any input I definitely feel like a noob because it has been so long.

Just some pics of some leaves:

Decided to cut these leaves off and see if someone can identify what is the issue. Plants are still budding and looking ok, leaves came off the plant in the back. Its seems to me to be healthy as far as buds and such but has these leaves still? Would like some insight.

Thanks, BTW Starting week 6 of flower now.
Ladies coming along good! I been looking at the other pics, these leafs here could show a Ph prob causing a lock-out? everything else looks good man gl n cheers

I know it couldn't be a ph problem because I have been checking the ph of my poop soup since beginning of flower. Always been between 6.6-6.8. Only that plant and the tall one have show leaves like that. The smaller one with the most tall one just starting to have some leaves turning. Someone else said it was nute burn and I am more inclined to believe that. I haven't checked my ppm's at all during this grow and remembered I had a ppm pen in my shed. So when I feed the other plants im gonna know if its nute burn or not. Honestly the one that had those leaves was the second most budded up plant? Will know in a day or so. But with that said I did feed the one plant straight water this last time.

You are quite welcome T Topping, I am glad that my journal kinda of helped you in designing your grow. I would recommend that when you veg, Have 1 HPS and 1 MH that way you have a broader light spectrum, be advised that plants closer to each light will display the characteristics of the specific light. That is just my opinion, but I could be wrong since its a 5x5 area you are working with. What Size filters and fans are you gonna be using? That 10 gal pot decision you will not be sorry making. This is the first time I have used 7 gal pots. I have kinda progressed as I have progressed as a grower. I started with either 2.5 gal or 3 then bumped up to 5 gal and now 7 gal. I have used only 2 different mediums so far soil and coco. I enjoy growing because its fun and it helps me wind down from long day at work. I have also learned from each grow as well. I would certainly recommend the superstoner recipe for your nutes unless you plan on doing organic grow. If you want I can pm you a spreadsheet that I have for the recipe. It breaks it down completely where you can change the strength and I would also tweek some things but I could help you with that. Just feel free to let me know if you have any questions when you start up. Thanks and hope your new grow is a great one.

Thank you I can use all the help I can get like I said I'm definitely rusty has been about 4years. I want to run a phat filter 20x6 with a vortex 6'' dial-a-temp to exhaust. I also plan on having a active air filter combo for clean air intake because I don't have room inside for tent so I have to keep in the garage. I am also concerned about temperature control for summer time don't want to over heat.

I also forgot to ask what the difference between mh and a mh veg conversion is? I wanted to try and stay organic as much as possible but don't know what I'm going to use yet.

Metal Halide Conversion lamps enable the grower to operate a Metal Halide lamp on a High Pressure Sodium (HPS) Grow Light ballast creating an all growing stages system, without the cost of changing or adding another ballast. Use Metal Halide during vegetative growing stages and HPS during the budding and flowering stages.

Digital Horticulture rated metal halide grow bulbs are engineered to operate efficiently on electronic digital ballasts. Digital metal halide grow bulbs feature enhanced spectral energy and multiple Kelvin temperatures for maiximum growth. Grow bulbs designed specifically for electronic ballasts are not recommended for use on magnetic ballasts, unless the manufacturers specifications state otherwise.

If you plan on using a 6" Fan for exshaust then you are going to need a duct enlarger because the dual bulb raptor hood is only in 8" Flange Size.

What about the run off? It could be burn too some plants handle ppm levels differently. Sativa dominants tend to be more sensitive, I was having an issue with one of the plans before too similar like that my ph would be 6.8 going in and the run off about 5.5, so it created nute lock-out and/or salt built up...Ouch !had to flush the soil asap I lowered the ppm on that strain

I havent tested the run off, but I did take a look at my spreadsheet and I was feeding them alittle more bloom and sweet then what I should have been for the stage of flower I am at, I am going to feed them water for the next 2 times I feed then probably 1 or 2 more times worth of nutes then It will be time for the final flush.

You are good I actually just realized that last night when I was telling you what I was getting and called my grow shop and switched to a 8 inch charcoal filter. Have you heard anything about organic nutrients?

I actually tried out a organic nutrient company a grow ago but didnt get to finish it. I only made it through a month of veg, It was a (A-B) Grow, (A-B) Bloom Formula. It was from a company called west coast horticulture. I would probably recommend doing some super soil but thats my opinion as I want to at least try it once because just adding water is alot simpler then all these nutes. Only thing you would have to add would be carbs in flower.

Middle of the week update: Well it looks like the girls are the thirstiest they have been so far, fed 2 gallon 2 days ago to the one in the back and fed the other 2 front ones 2 gal yesterday n all 3 plants got watered again tonight. But I am flushing with water for the next couple days and can not contain my anticipation and will be cutting some sucker buds of the plants tomorrow and storing for the hash that's going to be made, may test a bud or two :) will post some pics tomorrow morning after my little work project. HAppydayz

Middle of the snow storm update: Well its been a fun time so far, trimmed up two of the 3 ladies of their popcorn bud, only have one more to go. So far have a wet total of 39g so if my adding is right that's just shy of 10g dry. But we will see whats going on with the last one. hopefully get about another 20-25g wet so I will have alittle over a half to do what I want. I think I will either use it for hash or might just keep it for head smoke for the next couple weeks till I pull them down.

After trim pics and other pics :):

FUCK THE SNOW!!! SPENT 2 HRS shoveling a 20 ft driveway because we got so much snow and its still doing it :(. Anyways got some pics of the room after the trim. I think this will help the tops swell up much more with these suckers cut off. Anyways got some wet weight count 25 off the front right, 15 off the front left and 45 off the back one, all numbers in grams. So should have about half to smoke in a week.

Enjoy

So its getting close to the end of this saga and I just wanted to thank everyone that has viewed my journal and commented. I will be starting up another journal after this one, I am gonna be getting some new gear for this next grow and hopfully pump out some better numbers. I am considering getting some bigger pots 10 gal and doing 2 plants. That way with the dual hood will equate to 600w per plant which will be good. Not sure yet but would be fun to try. I will be giving a final weigh in and smoke report for this strain. I am going to do some research on the next strain Im gonna run. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I cant wait to get some new glass to christen these spectacular buds :). I have been eyeing a Sheldon black bubbler that has a dab attachment and can be used for flowers too. Now im rambling so, have a dank day as Subcool would say. And a dank day I shall have.
