Please Help. New to LEDs

Here's my 2 -180W Jumbo's over 5 plants in soil in the 2.5 x 4.5 tent....the other picture is a purple kush cola later done under the same setup. I have since left the soil world and now do coco coir in hempy buckets.....less work same yield.....fills the tent. One thing I can tell you you is that each of these LEDs weigh's 14lbs....lot's of heat sink inside...my tent handles this well but you need to look out for the cheap stuff. It might not be as strong...there's still a CAN 2600 carbon filter hanging in there too.

actually they do have that penetration if they have a lens that focuses more light down rather than out, i will be getting one of the newest pieces of led tech soon... hopefully, and i will be showing it off

really nice plants though how much was the weigh in?
I hate talking weights because of strain differences but this particular one did 3.8oz dried/cured...

I myself started with 90w but eventually moved to the 2-180w Jumbo's. One time I was goofing around with an auto in a closet while I was doing some 400W HPS stuff in my flower area (believe me I have been on both sides of the fence and see Pro's & Cons to each). Here is an Easy-Ryder from the "Joint Doctor" breeder that saw 3 weeks of 90W LED and 5 weeks of 180W LED (ProSource Brand). Yes, she's a fattie for an auto but I think it is more of my growing method than the lights. Most of you will find the same thing eventually. Some people can't pull this of with a 250W HID over one plant. LED's are here and they are real..they don't have the intense penetration of HID but the difference seems to be more popcorn buds around the bottom of the plant with HID..something I don't really desire. Give me some cola's and I'm happy. Some people claim nugs are more "solid" but all my Indy's come out that way, now matter what type light. Anything with much Sativa seems "hairy" and "airy" no matter what.
Awsome Buds!! So you veg'd with the 90 and flowered with 180 Niiiice! +REP

Are those LEDs are from Prosource?? Man I wish I had the funds to get that 90 NOW!!!
You grow from seed all the time or clone?

Yes, ProSource....I feel lucky to have purchased a good brand the first time....so many imitations on Ebay.
Those were clones...something I don't do anymore either.....I do seeds from Attitude all the time now...just preference. At least I know the strain is genuine. Seeds grow a nice symmetrical plant too.

when are people going to learn that LEDs are just not worth it? just get yourself a 400 or 600 watt HID and maybe a cooltube for the tent.
When certain restraints won't let us use them. Closet grows, paranoid growers, and law enforcement agents scoping out IR levels in houses make LED's great for the solo grower. Kinda hard to vent out the heat of a 600 watt bulb, or even get it to fit in certain areas. Some LED's are small and flat, perfect for little areas. Others put out good results for single plants, or 2. I use Kessil and Haight Solid State. I will buy from Kessil again, probably not HSS. They are ok, but im looking to do different things right now. So before you say they're no good, just say they're no good for you and leave it at that. Other people have plenty of good uses for them.

Hello Fellow Growers! Help is greatly appreciated. +rep

I want to grow 4 to 6 plants at a time, Indica dominent so it stays short and some lowryders. The light source I'll be using is LED from start to finish. And I'm not sure but I think a 4'x2' grow tent should be a good size for this grow.

My questions are

-Is 4'x2' a good size for the amount of plants im about to grow?
-What LED wattage is best for the amount of plants im going to grow or the tent size that I will be using?

Thanks agian.
I can only comment on myself, and what I use and the results I get. I use a Haight Solid State PPF-800 [Old Model] for vegging/flowering in my GrowLab GLCL CloneLab and it is 4'1 x 2'1" x 3'11". I alternate (1) Kessil H150 Purple and (1) Kessil H350 Magenta for vegging/flowering purposes. The HSS is rated @ 180W, H150 @ 30W, H350 @90W. In the CloneLab I use as my flowering area, I have 8 plants now, and will take out a couple before I flower. Last grow I netted 7.5 ounces from 8 plants. LED's seem to take a little longer to grow with, but the end result is fine with me :bigjoint:

LED buds shots from the past 1.5 years...in a 2.5 x 4.5 tent....and my LED's may be old technology by now. You will love the tent/LED setup as a medicinal self provider. Sorry I didn't leave them under the LED's while taking the picture....camera's do not like the spectrum....pink, pink & more pink.

Jela,

Check this out. I was doin some more reaserch and came across "advanced leds". I wanted to ask ur opinion about this since you've been growing with LEDs. Im trying to get quality but also bang for buck. And I'm going to grow in a 2'x4' tent. Which would you pick?

I really can't speak for the 3W diodes in the Diamond Series as my ProSource 90w is the older 1W diodes ( 90 of them). Note there are only 50 diodes in the 100W version. I would think that heat sink design would be the risk factor of longevity with the 3W diodes in a such concentrated space...the power supplies live in that same area too...possibly why there is 150W of capability in the Diamond with only 100W output.(tweaked down by 30%)...My ProSource LED's are heavy due to the thick plates of aluminum, I would ask them about thier weight if you grow in a tent.....it's nice that you can select the light spectrum in the Diamond...but...growers more and more claim spectrum isn't as big a factor as once thought...for instance some grow all the way through with HPS in the HID world.

What has helped me is looking over people's grow journals on here. I have seen a couple with my setup, or a similar one.

A great 90W project would be a couple of autoflowers, or one photo-period girl to get the hang of how 90W's work. But again you could go with your 5-6 and see how many respond. (their size will tell the story as one's directly under the light will be bigger). If they don't get enough they will stretch like a mo-fo creating some spindly/gangly plants requiring lots of support to keep from falling over. You can keep the lights really low over the plants but watch how fast they grow....when they hit 3"-4" a day, keep adjusting to compensate. I have had the tops up against the light lens by the time I came home and it creates a bleached spot on the tip of the top. See below. A friend unknowing of my mishap said I was blessed by the gods and that I had stumbled on a blonde strain..sheesh.

"A friend unknowing of my mishap said I was blessed by the gods and that I had stumbled on a blonde strain..sheesh." That was hella funny when I read that.

The seeds im gonna start off with are snowryder from the attitude. I have 5 of them left. i've grown outdoors and have had great results, but stop'd becuz of theives. So hopefully I do as good as outdoor. I'm counting the days till i order that light!!!

My C99's under the LED's....one on the right is 6' tall but note I had to bend the stems to keep them out of the lights in my 2x4 HydoHut.
