Poker Conundrum

I have an urge to play online poker for money. The combination of using debian linux and living in the U.S. is becoming a bitch, and I was wondering if any of you have a solution to my problem. I'm looking for a poker site that has online instant play that will let American's play for money.

I tried installing poker apps with Wine, but I keep getting a SuspendThread error 5 and the programs close. My frustration has hit it's max, unless you know what the problem is.

Thanks! :joint:

Poker has been a rigged game from the very beginning. Now, "online" there is no way to know the shuffle algorithms and how and when they change.

I played the funny money sections until I thought I was "OK." But, when the real money comes out the game changes. Then, of course, the site wants to keep the winnings. When you apply for a draw on winnings, somehow, the game changes. Poker is about pretending.

Damn, stay the hell away from them.

It's rather difficult to rig poker because the computer can't possibly predict accurately what the player is going to do, but it can play into it. I know Absolute Poker (before it got busted) had some high up people in the company that were cheating, but that was the worst I've heard. However, you are right about the hoops they make you jump through in order to get your money back. It is possible though, many professional poker players (Tom Dwan for instance) have won millions off of online poker and built their career off of it. Not saying that is what I want to do. It just keeps me out of the casino ;)

i have to disagree with that the online poker sites make money by taxing each winning pot like 0.50%. they don't get much from each pot but there are thousands of them happening every few seconds. The money is transferred to the other online player. They have no reason to rig-anything because no matter who wins they will still make money . online poker is not rigged

Yes its called the "rake".They have it in real casinos to not just online. In poker you don't play against the "house" you play against other players. The "House" makes money from the "rake".

Chances are if your playing poker online your moneys coming to Canada.Party Poker and Poker stars are both canadian companies. The US really dropped the ball on that IMO.They could be making tons of money.

Exactly.Gambling doesn't breed addiction.People with addictive personalities will find an addiction whether its legal or not.Be it gambling, coke, huffing gas, masturbation.People get addicted to some weird shit.Ever seen the show "my strange addiction"? people are strange.

Our politicians hate successful private business. Especially if it is frowned upon in the bible...

LOL most people would agree religion has no business in politics.

To be perfect honest I think Natives are the only ones that can open gambling establishments here. Both companies I mentioned are owned by natives. They also don't pay tax so it doesn't really benefit Canada much. But at least I can play.

Hey sync0s

Have you tried Carbon Poker? I played on party, tilt, and stars for years until it was all shut down... Party and stars were my only source of income for close to 18 months back when I used to know how to play. I deposited 100 on Carbon about a month ago, the transaction goes through a 3rd party (I think it's called infpay.com).. not sure if you can cash out. good luck

Also, to anyone who thinks the game/RNG is rigged... we all know about the cheating scandals, and the sites themselves should shoulder much of the blame for their own demise, but, there is no evil little man/program looking to drop a magical rivercard on you... the odds/statistics are a HUGE part of the game, that many players just don't understand (especially at lower levels)... Many people have tried to prove rigging through analysis of 100's of thousands of hands.. and no one has ever proved anything
