Pre paid Visa cards

Okay, so I live in the USA and, like so many of us, I have been purchasing my seeds from various seed banks in the UK. I have been paying by using a Visa debit card, but the last 2 times I tried to make a purchase my card was declined. I have since found out that my bank has a new policy of not allowing the card to be used for "out of the country" purchases. This is a new bank wide policy, so I can no longer use my card.

So, I went out to get a prepaid Visa card. I am aware that after getting one I will most likely have to contact the bank that issues the card and tell them that I want to make purchases from vendors located outside of the US. The problem is, every card I found says very clearly that it is only good for transactions within the US.

Does anyone know of where I can get a prepaid Visa card that is good for worldwide purchasing?

They will not ALLOW you to use your own money? I have to let my bank know that I'm making a purchase outside the US. Pain in the ass but now I have the direct number to a guy in the security dept. Just drop a line before I hit "confirm".
Time for a new bank.
Not sure on the prepaid thing. All of them I have looked at have too many hidden fees for me to play with.

I read through the info and it looks like that to get this one I have to become a member, open an account and get a "regular" debit card, and then get a second debit card that can be used worldwide. Thanks for the info, but I'm really hoping for something a little simpler.

Yeah, it really sucks, especially considering I have been using that card for years.

Remember when banks had good (?) customer service and actually seemed to want your business? Now they have you by the balls. I miss the days when I had all cash.
I live in the sticks so my choices are limited. As it is, I bank in a town nearby. The town I am closest to has a bank that stole plenty from me in the few years I used them.

Last order I did I sent cash.. Little bit risky but isn't what we do risky lol took 2 weeks..

MasterCard refuses to do business with everyone now I heard...

You know there are a couple dozen American seed banks now..no need to shop overseas anymore.

Nexis Card, I picked it up at a check cashing place, I refill it there too.

While that may be their "stated" reason, it's still controlling "Your" money.

there's no customs, so i don't really understand why they'd need such a guarantee, unless your mail man has sticky fingers..
but seriously, ordering within the states, you don't have to worry about customs and green tape, i haven't really heard anyone having any issue not getting beans from an american based bank.
look around, there's more than a few threads on which are some of the better..

Yup banks do that shit, mind did, and I can't use my bank account debit card funds to reload/withdraw on my online poker account anymore either. I got a netspend/reloadit card for that shit now. Yo my bank wouldn't even let me withdrawal my money from an ATM inside of a casino lol....
