pressing hash? Why?

Just a quick question.
Why press the hash from bubble extraction? I've always just stored it in small plastic ( like film canisters ) containers and put it in the freezer after drying it. Is there some kind of advantage to pressing that I am not seeing?????

if you heat and press, you can change the high a little, and also make the hash look black if your into that lol. Basically that is it. Some hash like dry ice hash, you have to press, otherwise you are left with a big pile of keif.

I just could not see any real advantage to pressing it myself. I just dry my hash out on coffee filters and store it in the freezer in plastic vials and canisters. Looks like small 'rocks and sand' and Smokes just fine without pressing. So I guess the answere is that there is no real advantage?

Pressing hash decreases the external surface area, that can be degraded by exposure to air. So its one way to help preserve the stuff.

Pressing also reduces the overall volume, again making it easier to store and smuggle.

But yeah, if you're only making a small amount for personal use, and you don't intend to ship it widely or store it for long periods of time, there is little advantage to pressing it.

pressing hash smashes heads and ruins flavor IMO i would never buy pressed hash for fear of what may have been pressed in it. i can tell different bags apart when i look at IWE but if it is all black and pressed it could b a mix of numerous bags

Ok, I get it now,. No pressing for my hash as there is no real advantage to it.
Thanks folks

If you're doing what might be termed a "dry sift" hash (ie old school rubbing over a silk-screen to collect the kief) you NEED to press the stuff, otherwise it doesn't stick together.
