Proper PH for Soil

Hi All, Im looking for info on how to read and treat me soil for PH. I just got a Digi Hanna PH meter and a CWS TDS Wand.

My girls are 5th week flowering

My soil reads:
-Runoff is 6.9ph and 120PPM

I Physically tested the soil 3 inchs down in the bucket(can someone let me know if this should be done with this kind of tester?):
-6.1ph

Which reading above is more accurate?

My Tap Water reads:
-7.0ph and 60PPM

If I am trying to get the soil/runoff to 6.5ph and 800PPM, do I add nute mix containing 6.0ph and 680PPM?

Can someone help me figure out the formulas needed?

You can use PH Up and PH Down to adjust the PH its available in most hydro stores.

I personally wouldn't worry about it too much unless your having problems. If you wanted to get the ph to 6.5 you could flush the soil with phed water but often there is nutrients in your soil that would be washed away. By dropping the ph on your next waterings I would imagine the ph would start dropping naturally I don't even test the ph in my soil anymore.

Your PPM is way low and your run off is fine. Don't chase pH it will cause more problems. Pick a range and stay in that. Now for organic soil you want to be in the 6.0 to 6.8 range for best results. To lower your ph add some nutrients and that should do it.

^Agreed, your soil PH sounds fine. As for your runoff PPM, you don't want to raise that, not unless you suspect your plants are hungry. Being that you're getting 120, it does sound like you may be under-feeding a little, and should bump it up a little. But, for any of us to be able to tell you exactly what PPM to feed them, is near impossible. Your best bet, is to increase what you are giving them now, then check the runoff in another week or two, which'll give you an undication of how much nutes they are consuming/not consuming, by measuring the accompanied rise in PPM.

I like to keep my soil PH around 6.8, if possible. Also, I'm quite relaxed about it, these days, and am happy knowing it's between 6.0- and 7.0. As long as it's in that ballpark,(or close) PH isn't a problem.

Properly prepared soil will PH it self . Anybag soil is of course already phed , but half way through flowering it can wander off . I just have to PH down my tap it's in the 7's , I knock it down to the 6's every time I water unless flushing.

So I know some growers are anal about there PH with soil , I don't see why , just saying simply put if the soil is prepped properly and u know the PH going in , it will take care of it self and u can just check it randomly to make yourself feel good . I dont have a ph meter but it's my next investment , drops get u by just fine but u have to learn how to read em . I just want a meter for better accuracy and time saving .

PPM meters are more for hydro guys and are unnessary in soil .

Peace

two things, I think your starving your plants, 25ml in 10 gal.? is that what it says on the bottle? and only every other? Give her the gas son, 100% recomended on the bottle and when your at the hydro shop pick up a bottle of Cal-Mag of something similar. Feed the cal-mag or what ever you get at 1/2 recommended and stop 2 weeks before chop. Make sure you start cutting back the food also in the last 2 weeks. I would go 50% for the last 2 weeks and don't flush, you can if you want but it's not necessary.

Find some worm castings and toss them in with your dirt no more than 20% and than stop worrying about pH in your soil. I have grown in soil for 10 years and checked my soil with a pH meter and it's always 6.6 to 6.9 so I never checked the pH anymore.

By the way the reason it looks like your plant has a mag issue is because of lock out caused by low Nitrogen levels. Feed full nutrients with the 1/2 cal-mag and they will burst into life. If the leves turn deep dark green back the cal-mag down to 1/4 recommended.

Just another point a little tip burn is not a bad thing when growing it means your at the max food level for the plant, that's a good thing.

Thanks, im trying get some calmag but none in town, will have to include on next order.

25ml of the a bottle and 25 ml of the b bottle into 10 gals is what the bloom nutes say. It has 1250PPM when mixed.

And that was my sneaking suspicion all along was these are just some hungry bitches that need a few good meals. lol.

Was planing to water tomorrow so it will be nute full nute mix aswell.

Was wondering if I should include a Little bit of Supermax B1 and superthrive with it too?

just go 1/2 if you use them
Will do Woodsie, Thanks.

I will give them a half strengh nute/half strengh superthrive/half strengh Supermax B1/ half strengh Floral Nectar Mix tomorrow. I will try not to go over 1000ppm. and keep it round 6.5ph.
