Original plan was to use only permanent adhesive pads. However we decided to go with reusable pad for Elite Engines to allow rework. Liner on both sides of thermal pads must be removed during installation.
Thermal paste works fine to but it is not as easy to apply as QB 96 Elite board is much bigger than COB

Some orders were shipped with White Pads and others with Grey Pad.

Grey Pad is 3M and is working fine.
White Pads Datasheet . We contacted the manufacturer and these are leaking silicone oil due to compression from screws.

All orders are currently shipped with Grey Pads only that hare hand cut to size
In Jan we are switching to Die Cut 3M (Acrylic based) and Bergquist . Both have higher quality and slightly better Thermal conductivity

I apologize to inconvenience with the White Pads with QB 96 Elite Engines.
If you received White pads with QB 96 Elite Engines and are facing issues,

Please email [email protected] with order number and we will mail you new Pads right away.

You say compression from screws? I never tightened screws beyond snug. I removed liner on both sides. And now knowing what leaked on plants i will be throwing away more than 4 times what the 96's had cost me and i bought 6 of them. As far as the product goes , frickin awesome, as far as the way it went to market with that pad, not so happy sitting here in my chair. I guess getting the right pads for the 96's is a step in the right direction but doesn't do a whole lot for me right now. Will the ones you will be sending out for warranty be Die Cut 3M (Acrylic based) and Bergquist ?

Yes they are in a tent. The two luminaires are 18" by 46" and reside in a 5' by 5' gorilla tent.
Nice work, good move on getting drivers out of there.

Are they going in a tent? If so, how nuch air gap will you have for circulation?

They sure are pretty.

A little less than half obstructed (3x4/5x5), with strong fans you should be able to get some good airflow.

Post pics when you install.

you get what you pay for sometimes ...............great CS
Actually I am very satisfied with the product HLG sold me, would i buy more - yes . Would I recommend to a friend - most definitely. As far as customer service goes - They have been great and communication has been tops and that's what makes a company. After going back and reading my posts I guess it might come off different, but I assure you that customer service so far has been there to help, which most companies fail on. And I am curious why people just pop in to a thread make a negative comment. Unless I misread what you wrote and you joined the thread curious on product and the CS comment was a question.

So @robincnn , if i understand you correctly, your message is kinda like a guerrilla recall, correct?

By this i mean, everyone who has purchased a 96(s), can receive free replacement pads, but they would only know it by reading this post, correct? How about contacting all who were shipped 96s before the date you stopped shipping bad pads?

I’ll ask for the ones you guys are making in-house starting in January. What is the difference in usage/performance between the two versions: 3M and Bergquist?
