Recommendation,Heat REDUCTION 2x inline FANS or 1 ¿ grow Closet: 220 CFM 6x4.5x7.75

I am looking into the Apollo horticulture 6in. 440 CFM inline duct fan and Hyperfan 6in. 315 CFM Digital mixed flow fan.

I am trying to reduce the heat being concentrated by my 150HPS mini sunburst. I have 2x mini sunburst set and the closet rises as high as 91F. When this happens I pop the door open. Which int always convenient. My (16) 4.75in clip fans are reducing the heat but not maintaining the heat at a temperature sustainable to convert CO2 photosynthesis. I'm adding an additional 2x 150 HPS mini sunburst, a total of 4, and I can already imagine how it'll get. My plan is to purchase an exhaust fan capable of reducing the heat while ventilating the room. I have been told use "Inline Fans", keep the fan high above the room and ductwork a hole pass the door and into my home. I don't mind the smell. It's legal. I just care about the heat. HOW CAN I REDUCE HEAT EFFICIENTLY AND WHICH OF MY CHOICES WOULD WORK ¿ IF YOU HAVE BETTER SUGGESTIONS, SHOOT ME DOWN ¡ THANKS ¡

HPS lights below 400w are more heat than light

piddling about with 'heat makers' ain't gonna work

imo: re plane the space, include a 400w HPS(digital)

good for 4x4ft or 600w at 5x4ft

see the chart below for an indication of lumens/lux

you can shine a 150hps at 4 inches to get 46k lu or get a 400w and get the same at about 7 inches hi

good luck

Thanks bud really appreciate the insight on lighting. I have 4x 150w DIGITAL ballast HPS lights. Mini sunburst series. That will amount to 600w. With just adding one more 2 the two I have up I'll be within the range of where you recommended 450w. I have not done this unfortunately because I don't want to induce more heat into my Grow room. My questions in this forum was which inline fan would work best to reduce heat a low cost ¿ thanks

The hyperfans are amazing and come with decent fan controllers built in, though they sound a bit like a jet engine. I have one that's built inside a muffler, it costs a bit more but it's fairly quiet at lower speeds and has lots of power. The static pressure of the fan is kinda nuts, even on a lower speed it still moves a lot of air while sucking through a filter, without a filter it would move an obscene amount of air.

@ hps
4x 150w hps lights won't equal 1x 600w hps in raw lumen output. However the multiple light sources makes it an interesting but warm idea.

150w hps = 100 - 110 lumens per watt / roughly 60000 lumens @ 600 watts.
600w hps = 150 - 155 lumens per watt / roughly 90000 lumens @ 600 watts.

As vostok said, the 150w hps is very inefficient and probably puts out more heat than it's worth. Imo would be easier to get 1x 600w with a cooled hood or look into cob leds. Plus most 600's have remote ballasts you can put outside the tent to reduce temps further.

Yea I appreciate the knowledge. I downloaded the chart. I lowered the HPS lights. I added one more light. 3 in total. They are 13in above plants. I added two more plants. 8 total 2.75/3gallons. I cannot afford to fix the mistake in buying 4 HPS lights under the influence it would amount to 600W lol. When I reread your informative facts. I think to myself. Wait I should known that from basic physic fundamentals. I essentially reduce my lumens while spending money.... If I can I'll just continue using the 4 HPS lights throughout the Grow as I round up money for a better light system then sell my used ones. Will I be able to continue the Grow using all 4 HPS lights ¿

I unfortunately have already decided to purchase the Apollo horticulture 6in fan. I will be seeing how it functions and making a determination when it as far as quality and production. I have a 30 day return.... thanks.

Tho the issue here is with excess heat, and you will soon have it under control

I have to admit, when I read a comment about a grower using a small hps

I am the first to advise him to just get another hps of the same wattage

tho my concern is the ratio of lumens to watts than heat output, BTU's

either way as both of us grow under HPS we are both outdated by the LED rush ..lol

good luck

600hps for a grow like this all day. Only $200 and much easier to plumb intake and exhaust to cool the bulb and draw out the hot air from the tent with only one duct line and a simple fan

I apologize it wasn't until I responded I realized how your response had everything to do with my forum here. If I'm worried about an inline fan and keeping things cool, the type of lights have everything to do with that. Since your familiar with my set up. You decided to keep my in tact with how my lights are a factor in heat production. I went on and purchased a
Hydroplanet™ 600W Horticulture Air Cooled Hood Set Grow Lights Reflector Digital Dimmable Ballast HPS MH System For Plant Grow Light Kit (600w)

Along with 2 Apollo 6in. Inline Fans. I will be returning my 4 HPS lights via Amazon.

So LED is better ? I was told HPS helps so you produce at higher yields... DOES led offer higher yields. Wow I feel stupid buying another HPS light to replace my heat producing HPS lights. What should I do ?

is a Good Deal, will put you in the 'zone' ..lol

is still early days with LED(Cob) style, and tho it does outshine HPS lights is still a long way before all growers bail for one

the current issue being them Damm COB lights change so much and so quick, and it shows in the price

like trying to keep up with a neighbor buying a new BMW every 6 months ..lol

cheers

I hope not too good to be true lol. It arrives this week. Your advice saved me TIME, ENERGY, EFFORT, NUTRIENTS, HEAT DETRIMENT, LOSS OF LUMENS, LOSS OF YIELD AND MOST ESPECIALLY MONEY. Thank you !

Now I'm drawing out how I'll set the fan ducting lighting with my stand and Grow area.

I see what you mean. No point of getting into it since the technology hasn't fully advanced yet and you could be in a position where your purchasing new equipment just to keep up.

LMK if I should look into any LED anyways or any opinion in what I should do with my HPS lights. During which stages. Right now during Germination and up unti 2 weeks of life I keep them under a 32w fluorescent (short dome) and a single tube 28w T5 light (big dome), then I switch them into a 6x 3gallon~2.75 DWC system.
