wow, didn't figure on such an amazing response.

I did it exactly the same way as I clone normally. Soaked the rockwool overnight in plain water (ph'd to 5.5, as this takes the alkalinity out of the rockwool), sprayed the leaf twice a day with luke warm water, also ph 5.5. I keep the water luke warm by leaving it close to the light. Usual diagonal slice across the stem. I also like to groove the tip of the stem, but on saying that I don't think it makes much difference.

The cloning gel I use is really cheap. I buy them in a pack of six, usually you are meant to place a cutting straight into a pot... but I empty all the pots into a larger container and use this as my rooting gel. It's by a company called gel2root. 2.99 (pounds) for six pots. I can't see myself ever needing to buy rooting gel again. Each pot contains 125ml of rooting gel.

the possibilities. how many leaf clones can one get off a descent mother? what about flowering plants? you could take a leaf clone when you harvest.

I didn't really keep track... but it does take longer than normal. When I cloned this, I cloned normal clones too, and they are full of root compared to the tiny amount on the leaf...

Also though, It is a fairly big leaf, a lot of mass to support. And I've ripped it open a few times... Also too, i'm using mh to propogate and I had it too close to the lights... it's new position is spot on.

With the right size leaf and the right conditions, there shouldn't be any discernable difference. In fact, I'll do another one tomorrow, alongside a normal clone... note the difference. I didn't do it this time because I didn't really plan to do it in the first place... it just came to me while I was taking cuttings.

I use the gel2root as an actual rooting hormone. I think it cost me 2.99 for a 6 pack from Homebase. I empty the contents out of one of the packs and into a resealable jar, then dip the cuttings in before planting into the rockwool cubes.

It's never failed, but then you don't need rooting hormone anyway, so it probably wouldn't, would it.

How long your clones take to root depends much more on the environment you put them in. I also like to use room temp' 5.5 water.

I got a leaf to root and guess what I got .......A LEAF, I am not joking you, I had it for about 4-5 months.....it rooted had a good system on it....alls it did was keep the leaf alive no new shoots, and it definetly did not grow a bud spot, but hey if you get this to work I will come to England and kiss your sweaty balls, but I know alls you are gonna get it a nice green leaf.....Gl...skunk.....:peace:

I planted it when it had about 3-4 small shoots out of the bottom....I kept it watered and nuted,....just like the momma, but for months up in the back in the corner sat this leaf.....doing nothing....just being green.....everything else took and got new growth.... this leaf just had a root system to support it's own life...and keep itself green

I think I may be able to help on this one, the addition of gibberellic acid and kinetin should be able to force some of the leaf's cells to differenciate into actual growth tips. The application may need to be very precise with the use of soaked gauze wraped around the stem in order to force it to penetrate the cells but it should be posable. These hormones are commonly used in plant tissue culture for helping the plant grow out of a callus, the callus often being taken from leaf material. I have both hormones so I will try this out and get back to you guys... oh and they are cheap chemicals so maybe I can figure out the recipe for everyone else.

Thats what I was going to suggest. Tissues cultures come from leaf discs anyway. You could maybe try using or copy the ingredient in tissue culture agar too.
