Seed germinated but with slimy tap root

I found a seed and germinated it. I just looked at it and t has cracked but the tap toor is barely coming out of the crack in the seed. I noticed the white part coming out is real slimy/mushy.

Is there a reason why (ie. bad seed, old seed, too humid)?

Should I plant it now or wait?

Thanks for your help.

I would get it in the soil and see what happens. If you have others that are going in make sure you mark the ill looking one.

Probobly too wet, I have seen non sprouting seeds get this way after being left in stale water, getting a slime all over the shell.

Too humid in your germination, i have that problem hella times cuz i didnt open a hole in the bag and no air goes in so it gets hot and humid and chokes the seeds to death while germinating

Sounds like the paper(or whatever you used) was soaking wet, and it drowned and rotted. How long did it take to germinate? More than a week, I'm guessing? If that was the case, next time try squeezing the excess water out before you put the seeds in to germinate.

in all honesty, i have had the best success by just putting the seeds in moist potting soil about 3/4 inch deep.

just mist the soil with a good soak everyday making sure the soil never dries out. there is almost no chance to get it too wet.

i have a 99% success rate or real close to it. and you dont have to touch the embryo after the bean cracks. its done.
