Quick question... starting from a seed using a root riot... what light would y’all recommend to use to get the germination started? Or should I just use my grow light?

Yeah just let it break the medium surface before lighting
Then the lighting watts and height should be determined at that point

Well, I would not turn a light on and then cover the thing I was lighting... leave your cardigan off the top.

keep the clear plastic top on until it pops above the soil, then take it off to avoid damping off.

We told him already.. LOL

Try the portion cup method. Just like the paper towel. Take a Portion cup or Petri dish ..Place 3 layers of paper towel inside...wet it.

Place the seeds in there...and cover with lid...Ghetto version? LOL

I take one of the Hundreds of Pill bottle lids I have and just place saran wrap over and place it IN A WARM DARK PLACE. This method works better for ME! It's no different from paper towel Ziploc but the seeds perform better to me.

Plus they pop up with room to sprout leaves instead of being compressed and sticking to the paper in the Ziploc

Now Start Listening to someone here and get those seeds Germinated LOL

FWIW - Check out this video of an experiment in different germination techniques. Like him, I have had much faster results with just planting the seed, skipping the water bath, skipping the paper towel, etc. The only downside, though, is if it doesn't sprout you can't tell if it's a dud or just slow...
