Selectively pollinating branches without affecting bud growth

I have a couple nice male white dwarf autos that I want to use to pollinate a couple branches on my female LSD auto. How high or low on the main stalk should the branches I pollinate be so that it doesnt affect the bud growth of the rest of the plant? I'm new to breeding obviously but I feel like I'd be dumb if I didnt at least attempt to produce some seeds for the future when I have parents that are each from well known decent strains. Any info is always appreciated.

I used to collect pollen over a glass table, store it in the freezer, and 'paint' it on the pistil preflowers that grow closest to the stems using a very fine brush. One of the best ways to use lower growth that normally would be culled is to grow seeds
